The dailies shipped immediately and the iris shipped for fall planting. The daylily fans were very generous (for an each varietal I received 2 double fans). The plants settled in nicely and have come back great this spring. Cant speak to the blooms as they are not blooming yet. |

Although they issued a refund, they said that photos and lighting can vary and were they to send me another one it would look the same...in other words the standard nursery line...The thing is it is obviously different. The standards and falls don't even have the same color combinations or pattern, the beards are not the same color. I'm being gaslighted...if the iris in the picture does not exist then put up a picture of the iris that does. The thing is Schreiner's photos are excellent and the flowers that have come out right are exactly as the photos show...It's infuriating that they think you are blind. Anybody could just look at the falls and know it's not lighting. I mean mislabeling is SO common in the nursery trade, and yet they still deny deny deny. I was very pleased with them up until their service rep tried to gaslight me. |

Ordered 9 different tall bearded iris plus a bonus iris. Got the order in July short the bonus iris. Called right away and was promised the bonus iris the 1st week of August, or so. She was very nice about it. In the meantime, I planted the 9 I received. All were labeled and matched my order. I received the bonus iris the 2nd week of August. All are growing fine. Won't know if they actually match the pictures shown online until next Spring. So far, looks promising. |

I ordered only three iris varieties this year - Dracula's Kiss, High Desert and Snow Melt. All three rhizomes I received were pretty small, and Snow Melt was substituted with Clarence, which has a washed-out look (Snow Melt is a high-contrast amoena). Quality is just not there anymore and prices are way too high - $50 for three small plants, with one of them being a sub I don't like. This was last time I ordered from Schreiner's... |

On 7/24/23, I placed an order for $80 worth of bearded iris. When I didn't hear anything more from Schreiners, I emailed them on 8/10/23 and received an email back a couple days later saying the iris were being dug up and mailed out within the week and I would receive a tracking number. No news. No iris. On 8/20/23, almost a month after I ordered the iris, I sent an email to Schreiners that canceled the order because I would be traveling soon and no longer had time to plant. They promptly responded with an email saying they would refund all but the 3.5% "cancellation charge" (which had never been mentioned previously.) Outrageous. I will not use them again. Beware that if you order from them, you may or may not get an order, but they will take your money. |

I ordered 10 varieties and was really rather shocked that they left one out. I spread them out on the ground as soon as they arrived and counted and recounted and counted again. So after counting them all and matching to the count and the varieties ordered I called them and told them they did not include everything and told them the variety they left out. "Are you sure?" was the comment I got back. Well that was enough. "Ok , we'll send it out to you.". Well here I am 3 1/2 weeks later and I still don't have it. In the interim I emailed them and asked WHEN. "We don't have any of that variety now. We'll have to put it on the dig schedule. We still have humans working here and they make mistakes." Yes , you do. But you could have a better attitude about fixing your mistakes when you realize one is made. If I had cheated a customer (either on purpose or by mistake) and they caught it, I would be troubled and send someone out to get the missing item and ship it to the customer. |
| Positive | mpedersen (6 reviews) | On Sep 23, 2021, mpedersen Duluth, MN wrote: My first order of Daylilies from Schreiner's was nothing but top-quality plants ready to go into the ground. Some of the plants felt a little pricey at first (compared to what you might see for certain varieties in the "bulb catalogs") but once I received the plants it become apparent that the quality is probably FAR BETTER and more than justifies the asking prices. Many of the plants I received this fall are better described as "clumps" vs. "double fans". The smallest plant in my order, Burnin' Down The House, was not a double fan, but rather three husky singles.... I am very glad I snuck in my order before the end of their season, and honestly regret that maybe I didn't give them more of my business. I received two bonus plants that were introductions too, which I was not expecting. I am overall very pleased with what was sent, and will absolutely consider them again. |

Have used many sources over the past fifty years but have never found a better source. Beautiful specimens, every clump had at least three fans (by my count) and several had more. All looked like they had been dug up and trimmed just minutes before showing up at my Post Office box. I’m not a huge iris fan but past iris orders and selection match their daylilies. Can’t comment on customer service as I’ve never needed their help. My number one source, by far. |

I included shipping and handling for my ENTIRE order, and to make me pay it again to fill that part of the order that they couldn't deliver is double-dipping. Sure, it would cost them money to ship the substitute, but they already got that money with the first go-around. Since I opted for a refund, It will be interesting to see if they include in it the shipping and handling costs for that one iris they couldn't ship, AFTER I've had to jump through the hoop of marking that option on the credit certificate and sending it back. It's beginning to feel more and more like they're trying to play games with me, and I have no use for that kind of dealing. So, I'm changing my rating from neutral to negative, because that kind of punitive policy is uncalled for. If they can't deliver an item from the original order when the shipping charges for the WHOLE ORDER have already been paid, they have no business making the customer pay those charges again. On August 17th, 2016, flowermaiden2 added the following: I wish to add that I clicked on their e-mail link at the top of this page, and expressed exactly the same complaint as in this review. The e-mail went through successfully, That was weeks ago, and they HAVEN'T ANSWERED ME. On August 26th, 2016, flowermaiden2 changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: I am changing my rating to a cautious positive. They have kept their word and refunded my money for the one iris they couldn't deliver, albeit my having to mark the credit certificate and send it back to them before they would do so. That shouldn't have been necessary. I told them on the phone I was opting for a refund. They could have noted it at their end and just sent it -- no hoops. Other companies I've dealt with gladly do so -- without putting me to any additional expense (postage) or other inconvenience. Still, they kept their word. The irises they did send are healthy and robust, and are beginning to grow. I'm noticing a new leaf on three out of four, and the fourth one is still nice and green and I can tell it's establishing itself. This company does deliver quality product. I still object to their policy of making customers pay additional shipping charges to replace portions of orders that couldn't be filled, when the replacements are the same price as in the original order. Those charges were already paid when the original order was made. This really is an unfair policy, and it seems to punish customers who use the credit certificates. That's how it felt to me. I do hope they will recognize this and change that policy. Once they've charged for shipping of an initial order, any part of that order they cannot deliver should be replaced without further charging the customer anything. The only exception would be if the customer orders a replacement that's more expensive than the original -- then additional shipping charges should be expected, along with paying the difference in price. It looks like I'm going to have four nice irises next Spring. I'm giving them credit for that, and for coming through with the refund. On August 11th, 2018, flowermaiden2 added the following: I've just planted the four beautiful rhizomes with nice firm and green leaf cuttings that I ordered this year, and I anticipate lovely flowers next Spring. Irises I had ordered from Schreiner's two seasons ago came back again and bloomed this last Spring. At first, I wasn't sure if they would, and it did seem to take them a bit longer than it did the first season I planted them. But they came back and they were also very nice again this year. Schreiner's has come through again. Good work! On July 25th, 2019, flowermaiden2 added the following: The eight rhizomes I received this year are healthy and large. They should do well. The irises I received last year and planted bloomed this year. I now have a nice variety of colors in their flowering stages, and have received compliments. Very nice! |

Their rhizomes are fat and healthy, they pack in soft aspen fiber, not newspaper like some, and use their own heavyweight perforated boxes that never collapse like usps boxes will do. They only problem I've had is they are a bit dry and not freshly cut and I have got several (out of 100)with yellow fans that have not grown well. Haven't checked their guarantee yet. But they always include a few nice bonus roots with their orders. They are a little pricier than most but offer some great sales later in the season, although the best ones do sell out early. One small inconvenience is they may wait months to send out your order with only a weeks notice. |

The orders were well packaged and in good condition in spite of the journey across the country. The plants were robust and healthy. I did make a mistake by ordering two daylilies with realizing that daylilies and iris require separate shipping and additional shipping charges apply if your order contains both daylilies and iris. It was my error for not reading the fine print. Perhaps the person packing the order sensed this as the daylily plants were actually clumps of 2-4 fans rather that single fans, so I came out ok in spite of the additional shipping charge. I am sure I will order again. |

Had I not ordered from Superstition, I would not have realized the difference. Superstition's were anywhere from 50% to 100% larger, and MUCH fresher looking, with huge roots. I spoke with both companies about my experience and Schreiner's said that tall iris' would have a much larger rhizome; but I did not order ANY tall iris. Also, Schreiner's did not ship the correct quantities. Look up Superstition Iris Gardens. Their site is not as easy to navigate as Schreiner's, but you can get a catalog for $1.50 if you want, which is what I might do next time. |

I have always had a good experience with my iris orders. They arrive in a ventilated box with careful packing and look as though they were just picked. I have called to have a few replaced the following spring when my new ones didn't make it, and Schreiner's has always replaced them. They are expensive but well-worth the cost. I would recommend buying a collection, as you can save a great deal. |

I was a little worried because I live in the intermountain west and our conditions are extremely harsh, unlike Oregon where these irises are grown. They arrived very well labeled with little pictures and I stuck them in the ground. Horrible weather conditions followed where it got cold, then Jan/Feb were very warm causing many plants to bud out early, then it got cold again wreaking havok. These little troopers were not fooled and the early ones are now blooming with more to follow. I got far better and stronger flowers than I expected for their first year and they are spreading fast. I am thrilled and plant to order more since they are so easy. I also love having colors no one else in the neighborhood has. |

Their rhizomes are giants and always arrive very healthy. Every last one of my Irises last year obtained from Schreiner's bloomed and for that matter, they all had multiple blooms. When reviewing my starters that I bought from them this year, I can literally pick out the ones bought from them because they take off So well and grow much stronger and faster than anything else I have. I don't buy all my Irises from them because honestly, I can't afford it and would not have near the varieties I have, if I did. Also, sometimes they just don't have a variety I am looking for. But what I do order from them is always nothing short of amazing. And I was extremely happy with their bonuses last year. Change In the Weather was one of the prettiest Irises I have ever grown. I do highly recommend them. |

I also ordered three for my Wild-Color Section: Starship Enterprise, Zandria, and Isn’t This Something. My bonus iris Winterfest is now in my white garden. Customer service is excellent. The iris were packed and shipped like rare antiques. What a shock to discover that other mail order companies do not provide the same type of plants!(just little dried up bits that take forever to eke out a leaf). I also very much appreciate the small color photo tags on each iris. I diligently followed all iris planting instructions; including cutting back the leaves in the fall. All the foliage just about immediately grew back. All the iris quickly matched mature plants in my garden. (And it was another record breaking long hot summer drought for the East Coast) The printed catalog is excellent. The photographs are beautiful and the color appears very true to nature. I have now started an Iris Wish List to include the other types of iris. It’s very difficult to narrow my decision, so I spend lots of time looking through the catalogs. The photograph of Power Point is so stunning. While many of the iris colors are similar this one is just not quite pink, not totally white, so I am going to have to buy one just to see how the flower looks live in person. I’m thrilled to say iris are one of the few plants the deer won’t even taste—and they at least bite just about everything. And while the devious Mole People have swiped quite a few tulips and decimated several daylilies, they don’t bother the iris at all. |
