This small blue butterfly was at about 400 metres altitude in the Owen Stanley Ranges in Papua New Guinea. I did see more at higher altitudes but can't recall now those locations.
Have been trying to ID it for ages. The closest I get to it are two which also have Australia in their range. They're:
Small Green-banded Blue Butterfly - Danis hymetus
Small Green Banded Blue - Psychonotis caelius
However, in the photos of the Australian species neither have the hairstreak on the hind wings that the one in question does. So at this stage I'm still baffled and would be grateful if someone out there could throw some light on it. Thanks.
