Thank you so much ceej1963. I realize I have been a member forever but just now starting to learn Dave's garden and where everything is. Thank you will check out the site.

Kitten, that stuff looks serious to me,and such a downer on something so beautiful.
If I were you, I would call the county extension agent, pronto. By now he has heard about this or these a thousand times and can rattle it off to you in no time. It looks like rust and something else too. Rust comes with the same weather every year. If you can't talk to the extension agent, then you should try out the vegetable gardeners' thread. Next to the extension agent they probably know as much as he does by experience. Frank

i am thinking it might be rust. have heard of glories getting it before. sorry to say this as an avid morning glor y lover but that pull stuff in a bag and any others it might of touched dirt and all. treat with broad fungicide the dirt and surrounding area and start in pots with new seedlings.

Thanks so much I checked out the disease & pest forum but apparently no one knows there either. I don't believe it's rust but I guess I will try to email my favorite garden center in Michigan. thanks anyhow

Kitten - Hmmm ... doesn't really look like Rust to me, either. I should know ... I get that problem every year on my MGs. The black soot looks like a type of pest, instead of a disease. Sometimes a certain species of aphids will leave a black soot on stems. Take a leaf to your local garden center and see what they say.

Thanks Becky
