Where have the hummers gone?

Santa Fe, NM

We have had fewer hummers than usual up our way this summer, perhaps due to exceptionally rainy weather. Just last week started to see a pair at the feeder regularly.

I saw a hummer last night - visiting my crepe myrtle. First I've seen this season. Maybe it came along with the rain.

I actually had to fill my feeder twice in one day.I sat amoung the flowers, and feeders, and counted seven, and they were so busy.It was a wonderful thrill.I don't know if its migration, or fledglings, but was so happy for their return. Mike

Isn't it a thrill Mike? While attempting to hang up their feeder after refilling it, they were swarming around me like little bees, looking right in my face, feeling the wind of their little feathers. I feel sure the one's we're seeing are this years fledglings.

I was being "swooped" when the feeder that I had out at the time got empted, then I filled it .They are really into the feeders I put around, and am inclined to think the same. They are fledglings. So glad to see them back, it makes my place a home. Mike

There are more here, too. I have broad-tailed, black chinned and calliope hummers now. They are so cute.
