Blooms for 5/27/09

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Nice photos Anne. The pink one looks like Hibiscus "Candy" but I'm really not completely sure.

By the end of the day the pink fades almost completely away. But they're really big blooms

I just looked at that one. I think you may be right.

Anne, could the 3rd one be Tahitian Princess? If I bring you some cuttings when I come up, could we swap? lol
Got any more cat food buckets? lol
Can't wait to come see you & see all of these, up close & personal!

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I have buckets though I put holes in most to use as slow waterers this last summer. I have a lot of litter buckets though. Hopefully some of these will start blooming now that it's not so hot. I haven't seen blooms on these since these pictures were taken.

My Elephant Ear wants to show off with yours, Anne. Love the way this bloom stands up instead of drooping like most semi doubles or doubles do. Just loved your blue Chaste Vitex. And, all your other pretty flowers. Thanks for sharing them with us.

With the heat mine hasn't bloomed since. I'm hoping now that it's cooler it may start blooming again.

AuntAnne hope to see your photos soon, how many hib do you have right now, have you purchase anymore or picked up any cutting lately.

BTW, I was working on a part of the garden and it came to me how nice it would look if it had a bush of that blue Chaste Vitex in it, I have a lavender one that I just planted in the garden, would you happen to have any seeds of that gorgeous blue Chaste Vitex tree by any chase or some cutting if it OK with you, I'm willing to exchange some cutting of my hibs if you what any not that I wouldn't send you any if you ask for any for that fact, if so, you can D-mail me.

I had seeds from the larger one, but I cut them off so that it would maybe bloom again or concentrate on growning. I don't know enough about it to know if the cutting would work but would be willing to try. I bought a few red noid ones during the summer. There were about 4 or 5 different plants in the pots and Lowes was selling them3 for $10.00 so I have about 15 new plain red hibbies. I say plain I think however that one was a red El Capitalio in one of the pots. I have about 20 plus tropicals in containers and maybe 6 or so of the hardy or confederate rose. I'm having a round up at my home the first weekend in November so may pick up some more then.

I gave a Snow Queen and a peach capitalio to my boyfriend who has the worst luck with plants. They have thrived for him as I figured they would. There are his first hibs. I will likely palm off some of the plain red ones to him as well. I have the Elephant Ears, Snow Queen, a red and peach El Capitalio, Gator Pride, Crown of Bohemia, Peach Candy, Butterfly, Ocean Spray, Prom Queen, Virginia Breeze, and a few others whose name won't come to me right now. I would love to have a Whirlwind but no one seems to be able to find one. Anyway let me check for the seeds on that Vitex first and we'll talk about trade after that.

Anne, I didn't get any blooms this summer either. No matter how much I spray the deer must have figured out when the smell is starting to wear off and they clean me out in one night. Every bud and all the new growth.......

The latest repellent I am trying is coyote urine and I am not sure about the deer yet but I know I can't stand to be in the garden myself. LOL That stuff is horrible.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

lol poor Ardesia. I'm so sorry to hear that. My problem was just the heat Yours is worse is worse. What about cayenne pepper?

LOL, I actually blended habaneros with eggs and garlic and sprayed the bushes with the mixture but the deer seemed to like it.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Maybe they're Mexican deer. lol

Disputanta, VA(Zone 7a)

I liked that AuntAnne, too cute! Love your Chaste Vitex tree too, hoping they thrive in a zone 7, so unusual.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL, whatever their origins they are evil deer! :-(
