Bullwinkle and the boys - a return trip?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

happy to add phfurballs who got to me just before I sent the list to Todd.

Todd will get them on their way really soon. Please keep them a maximum of 5 days before sending them on.

I'm still missing two addresses, but there will be a little time before I need them. If for any reason you decide that you cannot host the lads, please let me know and I will contact the current host to cross your name off the list.

In areas where there are several people close together, I think having the lads would make an excellent excuse for getting together in a mini RU.

Ann

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

I hate to confess ignorance, but just what does RU stand for ??

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Round Up - a gathering of DG people. There's talk of one at the end of June in Ottawa and sometime during the summer in Calgary.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

thanks ann for posting it, maybe we should hunt down all the DG in eastern ontario and western quebec and send them all invites what do you think???????

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Well with a tearful farewell I sent the boys off. They are enroute to Nova Scotia even as I type this. Hopefully I will see them again later in the year.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wooo Hooo .. I hope 'eastjack' is ready for the Gnome n Moose invasion LoL

Let the SAGA begin ^-^

Granville Beach, NS(Zone 6a)

Looking forward to showing the boys around. Do you think Bullwinkle can golf? Probably be a week before I see them knowing our postal service! Takes a week to get a letter from Halifax 200 km away.
The weather has been great for getting the new garden beds dug, warm sunny days but very cold nights. I am still holding off with my tomato plants until the nights are warmer.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I just planted my tomotoes last weekend and we had it pretty cold also last frost is suppose to be may 15 lol had 6 night with frost since lol that weather man he is always mixed up hahahah

Cardiff, ON(Zone 4a)

Can't wait to meet them - and see what adventures they have on their way.

Weslemkoon - I grew up just north of Bancroft. My dad used to teach at NHHS. What a small world.

Granville Beach, NS(Zone 6a)

A parcel pickup notice in my mailbox today so maybe the boys are here! We will see later when I go into town.

I did plant my tomatoes on Sunday but had to cover them on Monday night when I saw the temperature dropping like a stone and with a dew point below 0 deg C frost was likely. The temperature at my weather station fell to 1.6C and there was a light frost on the lawn at 06:00 Tuesday morning. It's about 3 weeks past are normal last frost date. Where is the warm humid air this year?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Oh I hope so. I look forward to their adventures with you.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I just wish the sun would come out so we can all sing here comes the sun and it would stick around for more than one day, so much work to do outside and all that is happening is the weeds are getting bigger with all this rain lol

cant wait to see the boys my way to take them out hahahahah it should be lots of fun

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

If 'in fact' the BOYZ have arrived eastjack .. ENJOY :o)

RCMP Musical Ride here tonight .. I am sure Bullwinkle would have LOVED that !!!

~M~

Granville Beach, NS(Zone 6a)

The boys arrived in cool and rainy Nova Scotia after their long trip from the rock.
We did not get them home until just a few minutes ago and they will be on their way to Ontario Monday morning. Starting in the morning we will show them the sights of Annapolis County.

Here they are inspecting an amaryllis in our sun room.

Maybe we'll get the Musical Ride here around Canada Day - we often do. Perhaps the lads can catch up with them somewhere.

BTW, I STILL need addresses for spklatt here in Ottawa, ON and Hortensia in Langley, BC.

Ann

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

ann if you do hear that they are around let me know the girls want to see the musical ride they have been asking for a while now

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

I used to have a scarf exactly like the one that Bullwinkle is wearing. It was our high school colours circa 1978.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I'm thinkin the boys look very fit !!

Those are also the school Colours of a High School here in TBay .. Hillcrest .. that just closed after being in business for 85 years !!

Enjoy your days with the 'Trio' eastjack :o)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good news. The lads have arrived in Missisauga with phfurballs!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

WOW - that IS good news. I was really beginning to think they had fallen off the face of the earth!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I suppose we'll have them by fall, in the west. Rather disappointing, but at least we'll have the little fellas! I couldn't be happier that they are now onto their next travels.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Well, I guess the land mass is such that somebody's gonna get them in the off season for gardening. I had them in October - after Thanksgiving and there was snow while they were here. But if those that live close together can get together to host them, it might speed their journey. Like you, I'm just relieved that they have surfaced.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

Wish I'd known they weren't mailed until July 18, I was beginning to fear my first participation in this exchange was going to end with me as the culprit in the 'case of the missing gnomes' ! But no worries now. I've posted our first visit at the end of the travelogue, so to speak. Should I be starting a new thread now ? Not entirely sure how to do that and have the links to the next and one before working properly.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

What you do, is you post a new thread (in the Discussions page - go to Canadian Gardening, and then choose "Post a New Thread" at the top of the page (under Communities).

Name it whatever you like, that's related to the Boy's trip with you (such as Mississauga Trip with the Boys - just don't use my lame excuse for a title LOL).

Once you've created it, make your 1st post ("we came here, from there...yada yada.."), copy the address of the Thread, then return here, and create a post, pasting the address in.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Tallulah_B gave good instructions. if it's easier for you to start the thread and then go back to edit in the address of where we've been, that's OK too. Or you can make it the second post in the thread. And don't forget to go back to the last thread and put a link as to where we've gone. (I'll do it if you forget; so don't worry.)

Let's see, you could name it something like Moosissauga Saga or something. I'm sure if you let your creative juices flow a bit you'll come up with something much better.

I suspect the intention was to get them mailed on the 9th or else they sat around a post office for awhile before being sent off.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

o my Ann - I fogot the part about coming back to the original thread lol
Thanks for picking up on that!! We make a good team for instructions, you & I lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Leaving for vacation on July 31st until Aug. 10th..will that work into plans or will they have to be changed???

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I'm leaving on August 19th for a week. Maybe it would make sense to send them up Ottawa direction before sending them to you. What do you think?

cybercrone - Toronto, ON
ceedub - Whitby, Ontario

scicciarella - Metcalfe, ON
ViolaAnn - Ottawa, ON
spklatt - Ottawa, ON
drivenbonkers - Perth, ON

Bettypauze - Victoria Harbour, ON
weslemkoon - Gilmour ON
MarilynneS - Murillo, ON (near Thunder Bay)

Would that make sense for the Ontario people?

This message was edited Jul 22, 2009 5:57 PM

That works for me. I don't go on vacation until October.

Christine

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would for me, just wouldn't want the little gaffers to have to spend the week at the post office...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Are we keeping the boys for 2-4 days, each?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

That would seem reasonable. And generally, the mailing should take 2-3 days (that's WORKING days, of course). scicciarella, myself, and spklatt and possibly drivenbonkers can likely exchange them in person.

Ann

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Just as I'll exchange in person with FancyVan.
I'm hoping gardens will still be presentable by the end of the western leg of their journey!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WHATEVER works for me .. I'm going away in Aug .. but not for long .. will be headed East in October ..

~M~

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

if I am first in ottawa I maybe able to pick them up in whitbe since I am going to toronto the weekend of the 9,10 of august if that works out with the dates

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

That would be cool if that works out.

Perth,, ON(Zone 5a)

works for me!

I would make arrangements for pick up/exchange. I'm in Kanata every day.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

And I thought I might get out to Perth! LOL
