This is the ligher flower........w/ solid leaves.
These were from the same seeds " Shiorbi x Gray Lady"...
What a difference between the two !

MJ - Love your blooms! All 4 of them! You just never know what you are gonna get with seeds. If they are crossed and that is a probability, then anything is possible! Save me seeds from the lighter one. (and the darker one, too!) I am going to have to go back and check the leaves on mine to see if it produced solid or variegated leaves. Very cooooool!

Mine had solid leaves: http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/beckygardener/9413/

VERY interesting!!!

yeah, I don't know anything about crossing them i just plant them and watch em grow ! but think it's cool when something "different" happens.....

Ohhh very neat! I was poking around on this forum trying to figure out what I just planted (had the garden all torn up this spring and am getting a very late start)...and MJ, here was your thread. Perfect! I threw the Shiorbi x Gray Lady seeds in with a few others when I planted (out of room), and am so intrigued to see what I end up with! I am a total newbie to Morning Glories, but I sure love a good bloom mystery, and all those bloom are quite beautiful :-). Thanks again for the seeds, Becky!

You are quite welcome, Sunny! I hope you get some great blooms on the MG vines you are growing.

MJ - My first year ... I just grew them too. But then got more interested in hand-pollinating and crossing them. If this becomes a true addiction/obsession for you ... then I would not be surprised to see you doing that next ... :-D

sunny,
I wish we were "neighbors", ! We seem to like so many of the same plants......these JMG's are intriguing, but I'm sorry to say I don't have the patience or discipline for the details of cross pollination ! Well, I might do it but never get around to writing down "what" I had done!!! With 11 acres, horses, dogs, grandkids, boyfriend, well, I just plant stuff.......all over the place !!!!!!!!!!!! I still have many JMG seeds left and am wondering....."Is it too late to start them"......ummmmmmmmmmmm this coming from the person w/ seeds still soaking or in coffee filters or in trays out on the racks outside.........or just thrown in the ground...........
mj
ps.. the JMG;s are just outside the back door so I see them first.....and of course have to stop and see....ummm, what do we have today? So if anything really different I'll take pics.!

lovely blooms mjsponies.... which ones your favorite... i can't choose between the lighter one and the one with the star pattern... :-)

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

I like them all, but I think the darker star pattern, and it's the one with the variegated leaves.
What do the seeds pods look like on mg's ? I've never collected seeds for them before and what to get these.
