South Venice, FL(Zone 9b)

Oooh, I really like the Count Dracula too! Beautiful pictures!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

cannagirl - NICE photos! Love all your blooms! The last one is Purple Flaked I. purpurea and one of my favorites! That one should really provide some thick coverage! :-) Your Pink Hige (Flamingo (cute name)) is beautiful too. Another I. purpurea. Count Dracula (I. nil) is always stunning! Keep up the great job you are doing!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Great blooms.

Thanks everyone! I've really enjoyed growing morning glories this spring. I got hooked two yrs. ago when Beth, (I think that's her correct name), sent me her cross of Sunrise Sernade, and Emma Grace sent me her crosses of Gray Morning Mist & George Strait.

If any of these M.G.'s produce seed please feel free to ask for them. For the most part they were given to me, and I'd like to pass on. So far, I've seen sm. seed pods on President Tyler, Gray Morning Mist.

More lovely blooms, cannagirl! Looks like you're growing some beautiful cultivars!

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks everyone!

Becky, they are all beautiful but running out of room :) to grow them all. I think next year I'll only grow 3 or 4 M.G. vines as I have a collection of passifloras, pea vines, snail vines, gourd vines, dutchman pipe vines just to name a few.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I have a similiar collection of vines growing in my backyard along my long privacy fence. I have one side fence literally covered in Passiflora vines. Then I have a large Mexican Flame vine, quite a few MGs, Corkscrew vine, Coral vine, Cross vine, a climbing rose bush, and I just start 14 more vines! LOL! Not sure where I am going to grow them all! But I will figure it out. I have a serious vine addiction ...

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Lol, Becky I have that same addiction. I love my vines. It started with my climbing philodendrons, and now I'm out of control :)

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Dollie they are all beautiful!!! Put me on the list for MG seeds!!!

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Got you down Trish.....here's another beauty. NOID from a round robin seedbox Riverland started on Midsouth Gardening.

Dollie, awsome glories there.. I love your blooms.. count dracula is awsome, but I really like that blue and white striped, By the way, things are growing here that you were kind enough to start me with.. thanks for that...it means alot to me.. and thanks for sharing your awsome photo blooms, it helps me to see what I might expect..from the same names ..

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Debra, thank you! I love the Count Dracula too. He'll be one that I'll grow next yr. in my garden. The striped m.g. is ID'd as Shibori Flaked Bluish/Purple. It also makes a different color bloom....almost a solid color very pale pink with tiny purple flakes. Photo below. I'll get you seeds in the mail as soon as they produce.

This M.G. was ID'd as Purple Feathered on seed pack, but to me looks just like President Tyler.

Dollie, Very pretty blooms, love the no id

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Jackie....If she makes seed I'll share with you. I'm watching real close for seed because this is another M.G. I'd like to grow next yr. I've noticed some M.G.'s make seed while others haven't so far. I wonder what I might be doing wrong?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky could tell you all about them not making seed. Perhaps a lack of
pollen. I'm sure it's not anything you're doing wrong. Some varieties are
very slow to make seeds.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Dollie - Nice I. purpurea vines! :-)

I rarely have a problem with I. purpureas making seeds. They usually produce way too many and then I get all kinds of volunteers the following year! LOL! Your climate is about the same as mine I would suspect. I do hand-pollinate mine with a soft, narrow art paint brush. I've got a zillion seed pods on my pink flaked I. purpurea right now. Have you tried hand-pollinating your blooms? It could also be climate. Is it dry there? Or perhaps too wet? Sometimes I have that problem either way due to climate.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Dollie - Another idea ... throw some compost down around the ground at the base of your vines. It could be a nutrient deficiency too. Compost does the trick for me to get my vines performing at their best ... blooms and seeds!

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Becky, thank you for this information. No, I never have pollinated M.G.'s. Weather coditions may have played a role....we get too much rain, then too dry. I'll add some compost in the morning and see if that helps and try pollinating a few blooms.
