I moved into my current house some 18 months back, and have not been able to ID this, it is growing (very slowly) in clay soil (may not like it)
Can anyone out there ID this?
It's a deciduous azalea, Rhododendron of some kind. Are those concrete blocks around the base of the shrub? I would remove them if I were you.
One of the deciduous Rhododendron species (azaleas)

If the photo color is true it's probably 'Gibralter'.

On this side of the pond It's a widely sold deciduous azalea, free flowering and tough. With proper care it's an outstanding spring performer.
thanx loads all of you.
I have never seen a deciduous azalea before.
but I was wondering about that, because I have a small rhodedendron next to it in a pot and the plant structure is very similar.
I will remove the concrete blocks, I assume the bush likes acid soil like all other rhoddy's and azaleas and the concrete won't help will it?
Now How do I mark this thread as solved?
No option for ticking 'Solved' on the Trees & Shrubs Forum - it's only on the Plant Identification Forum that's possible!

ok ta. I did mean it to land there, but my computing skills are probably far worse than my gardening ones.
