Simply outrageous
You are right Marty, they both made me mad, the first in discouraging the children and making their father look bad, and the second one just generally stinks. I think Companies and schools should have the right to make policy but I also beleive there should always be a little "wiggle room", and there are exceptions to every rule. I think we should all email NCCI and complain.
okay, going to be hated for saying this. And I actually know ahead of time!
Why should these stories surprise us? We've seen the same thing right here in front of our eyes. We're so afraid of offending someone that we walk around on eggshells. Why can't we be proud of what we stand for and what we believe without someone else being offended? If I don't put them down in standing up for my beliefs, why should that bother them? We've become soft, afraid to be who we are. First it was our religion and now it's our country that we're having to be careful to stand up for. This story didn't surprise me one bit. Make me mad? yes.
I'm going to be me.
I'm gonna try to stay away from the religion thing as much as possible, but for the flag issue...we are all Americans. That's something that can't be denied. To say the your own country's flag may offend someone is just unbelievable...while you're IN your own country. Even if there ARE people who have come recently from other countries that work in that office, the fact that they are here tells me that they enjoy being here. So why should we be afraid of displaying our own flag? (I'm not mad at ya tiG, I'm just reasoning here) I just don't understand the flag issue one bit. It defies reason.
I agree wholeheartedly Jon! If anyone would be offended by our flag then why would they want to be here to begin with(?)...just doesnt compute!!
When you are in Rome, you do as the Romans do..Respect their flag.
If someone doesn't like our flag, they are free to go to Afghanistan, where I am sure they will be welcome to burn every one of our flags.
Then when we go over there, they can watch us replant a big American flag smack-dab in the middle of Afghanistan. Permanently!
I also have an outrageous story. My daughter works for a National Travel Agency. People, READ THE FINE PRINT. Ok you booked and paid for a trip to say Paris. You also got trip insurance ($109 per person per plan for a trip costing between 1,751 & 2,250 as an example)The Insurer will pay bennies UP TO $500 ($250/day)if Your Trip is dalayed for 12 hours or more en route to or from Your Land/Sea Arrangements due to etc, etc, etc and hijacking:civil comotion (FAA Grounding all planes)or riot. However, if your plane was delayed for 12 hours or more en route to, etc.anybody anywhere mentions war you arn't covered. The policy goes on to state "Insurance does not cover any loss caused by or resulting from: war or any act of war declared or not." So what it boils down to is one of her clients had booked a trip to Paris months ago, purchased trip insurance which will not be honored. So they have to go ahead and fly to their destination (what if the airport is still closed) or forfit their entire amount paid.
another point of irony is this plan is underwritten by: National Union Fire Insurance Cpmpany of Pittsburgh, PA, Offices, New York, New York. Am I the only one who thinks this is a rip?
agapanthus..it is a rip alright..sad but true.
Concerning the flag...that is an outrage...this is our country...we are in a free country...or it was the last time I checked...this country was founded on freedom..freedom from being told who to worship, how to worship...freedom politically....free speech...right to have firearms...I in no way see that having on a jewish, christian..whatever necklace is against people's rights....
This is a free world...those who seek to deny our freedoms should move to countries that deny these things...then they should feel right at home. That stuff has no place in our society.
Hey Daffy...LOL...I'm not sure we would want to stay there permanently. ;)
Looks like they changed their mind: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/20010917/aponline133441_000.htm
