MG suggestions for this trellis?

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

I bought this on clearance after eyeing it up for a couple years at the local garden center.

Of course I plan on growing some MG's on it but I'm having a difficult time deciding which one. I want to grow something that will still allow the "artistic" form of this trellis to be appreciated.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

That is beautiful. Any climber would look great on that. White flowers would contrast with the dark color. Then blue bedding plants would look nice too.

Looks like its large eni=ough to hold 3 or 4 kinds of morning glories to me. Blues and pinks .

...would you plant something with small flowers?

Sandy - How tall is the trellis section?

Hi Becky....about 4 feet tall

Many Kikyo vines grow about 4-6 feet, would not smother your trellis and compliment the shape and form. Another one that isn`t such a thug and is cheap is the Mini Bar Rose.

What a beautiful trellis indeed. I cant wait to see it in full bloom, its going to look fantastic.

Ipomoea obscura tends to make a nice thicket of green leaves, then you'll have the orange or yellow flowers peeking out from behind the leaves. The seeds don't ripe until late in summer but if you don't care about collecting the seeds it is a non-issue, yes?

I, too, was going to suggest any of the Kikyo vines and Mini Rose Bar due to it's variegated foliage. These are both shorter vines with nice blooms. I, personally, think it would look best with the same cultivar of vines with the same blloom color.

something with smaller or divided leaves so as not to hide the frame.... i thought Ipomoea wrightii....
