Calystegia hybrids

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Calystegia hybrids created Summer 2009, invasive but nice. The flowers stay open all day. Here you can see Calystegia sepium (white) Calystegia pulchra (pink small) and the result Calystegia hybrid, notice the calyx. Other photos to follow in other posts.

The hybrid. Looks almost like Calystegia sepium ssp. americana however since it does not set seed and it is sterile all its power goes into producing non-stop blooms from June to about October and stay open for most of the day and sometimes up to 3 days if it is cloudy. Notice it is well behaved and climbing up the side of my house along a wire, the photo does not do it justice as the blooms shimmer in the sun. This only reproduces via rhizomes. I am willing to trade within the convolvulacea species with dedicated and proven growers.

This is a good photo, notice the leaf shape and colour a few bug bites but this is early in the season and rather cold

Rareseedman - I would be very interested in a trade. What are you looking for?

I think Ms.Kencik is looking for some...and for some Summer Skies...

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Summer Skies will never be found again...however I have seen a light blue form of ipomoea tricolor from Texas a number of years ago and should have snapped it up, it was either a mutation or a self seeded variety of Summer Skies.
