Is this a beetle and larvae?

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Hi there, ive recently been finding what I at first thought was a millipede or something like that but im beginning to think its some sort of larvae as I have found quite a lot of them lying around and theres a hole at the very top of them as if something has came out them ( mostly in the hall near the front door )

I also often find what I believe to be slaters around the same area in the hall, they are also in the picture of the suspected larvae

and then also today I found what looks like some sort of beetle (or ewww possibly a cockroach?) Im thinking its just a beetle because it looks like it has vertical lines rather than horizontal lines on its back

I dont really know much about bugs and larvae so can anybody identify these things for me? all the help is very much appreciated, thankyou

The 'suspected beetle' is indeed a beetle; specifically, it is a ground beetle (family Carabidae), a very large family, most of which are general predators on other small arthropods. The 'suspected larvae' are dead, desiccated millipedes, and the slaters are exactly that (more commonly known as woodlice or sowbugs on this side of the pond).
