CLOSED: what bug pod nightmare is this?

Westland, MI

Can anyone identify this? I found them in the plugs I grew my seedlings in as I was planting them. they are smooth and slightly hard. They appear to be some kind of pod.

Perhaps If I could identify now, I can treat and avoid problems later.

Oh! They are slimy and faintly greenish on the inside.

This is a pupa, but of what I am not sure, as the image is a bit on the fuzzy side. If they are quite small (say less than 6-8 mm), they may be muscoid flies; if larger, they could be moth pupae.

The image is kind of fuzzy but this look like the pupa of the wax moths I have. So, therefore, it is most likely a moth pupa like suunto mentioned. What kind of moth? You can't be sure yet. It doesn't take long for them to leave it though.

They are very tiny. Less than a centimeter. We do have the small white moths around. I hope the larvae don't like veggies! Yikes! I'm going to have to keep a close watch in the garden and use the DE regularly!

Take a good look at all 'sides' of your find; if it appears smoothly cylindrical in all aspects (see http://tinyurl.com/pe376p), it most likely is a fly pupa, but if there are obvious 'pads' at one end (see http://tinyurl.com/ov3rtu), it most likely is a moth pupa.
