I live in Seattle area and we have a few caterpillars like the one in the pic roaming around our garden.
Can someone please help me identify them and their diet?
Thank You,
Maria.
CLOSED: What kind of caterpillar is this?
This might be the larva of the silver-spotted tiger moth (Lophocampa argentata; Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/ofqbe6
Reportedly, this species feeds primarily on conifers, especially Douglas fir.
Thank You ! That is it, and now I realize I have seen the moth around too but I didn't make the connection.
