I have two column apple trees. both are in separate pots.
they both have little apples forming but I now see yellow leaves on both along with dried blossoms. One is showing some white Mold looking stuff around the dried blossoms.
and the other has a foot+ of the top that has no growth whatsoever
- that part does look dead.
any advice please.
this year we actually got nets to stop the squirrelS from getting the apples
- now this . . .
re: Apple Tree in Distress
Can you post some pics of the yellowing leaves and the mold on the blossoms?
If your trees are grafted on M or M-27 root stock they can, with proper care, be grown indefinitely in pots. Other wise 2 years is usually the limit before they should go into the ground or at least a much larger pot. You should have been given the root stock information on the plant tag when you purchased them. The "white mold" is most likely powdery mildew. You will have to spray regularly throughout the growing season with a fungicide. Be sure to follow exactly and carefully all label instructions so that your crop is safe to eat when it's time to harvest. Fall cleanup of all leaves helps to reduce reinfection next year. Give these trees good air circulation.
good info Thanks!
