Hi Gordon, I'm adding more 'native' versus the tropical collection. As far as tropical, last year I had a beautiful seedling that flowered. Hope that will do well again this year for me. How about you?
How do you Know when a seed pod is ready?
they are looking good there.....everything will be new... I'm working on a new house for my soon to be X-wife.. [ my first year single in 28 years] HERE.. new trellising.. the old bamboo lasted maybe 10-14 years.. a more enclosed grid to shield me from view of a new large building near by.. new garden carpets.. and new cushions.. with the new stay dry foam.. where the water just pours through.. I sewed new sunbrella covers in two colors for them all.. new planters.. new seating.. got a refrigerator/freezer up there now with a foam enclosure and a planter for it's green roof effect.. new plants.. my Love in a Cage is sprouting... supposedly the lost Incan food see picture.. the brugs are waking up .. with the roof cut off their cool room winter home.. and the list for new goes on and on..
Ya'll should come by for a visit.. plenty of room here now... trying to get planted and a new drip system up and running....the old one had been remade too many times over the years.. so I can leave for mothers and get some things going for her.. real soon..
OH..did you see the link to my interview site... it was picked up by The Atlantic Monthly and included after an article on the benefical aspects to gardening .. from a health perspective.... and the guys who did it are up for some awards ..for their entire site...

I went through some hard times. So everyone good luck with yours brugs.I am sure they will all be beautiful.
Welcome back Cody!
Well Cody... keep up the interest... even if you can have your own now... there will be lots of Brugs here for you to share... I'm still letting my pods develop... they made it through the winter ... and into the spring... they still seem to be green and developing...
Mother won't be managing any this year... just into the hospital and didn't think she's wake up... but after days of massaging her.. lying next to her there... she finally came around... I went looking for a recovery center for her to spend a month or so at to see if she can regain some independance via mobility... in checking this one place out I noticed this painting in the lobby... and felt comfortable with the place so she'll be there the end of the week... I'm sure she will miss mucking about with her dozens of them... I've a Jamacian Yellow that matches the ones in their painting and has yet to be planted ... so maybe I'll bring it back for them to plant when I return from home to AL in a few weeks
Sorry to hear about your Mom not doing well. Please know we will keep her in our prayers!
I love that painting, and I know your Mom will find peace with it every time she see's it!
Hi everyone, I'm pleased to see Cody has returned to our gardening circle. Nice pix of you and your beautiful brug Linda Kay. Gordon, I am sorry to hear your mother isn't doing well. Like Linda Kay, I'll keep her in my prayer. When you come home to Al. please get in touch. Maybe we can finally visit that local cafe or is that a tea house that we missed? Jim and I would like to meet up with you for tea or luncheon. Love that painting with the colorful birds and the Angel trumpets in the background.
Peace to all,
A gardener friend from Al.

I'd like to clean out a few of her beds before leaving... few things seem like they are returning... but they just might be too shaded by weeds to think it's time to come up..

Okay, a name for the beautiful peach brug. ..... ^_^
How about B. Pina Colada??
Kim, have you named your Peach brug yet?
No, I haven't. Haven't found anything suitable. Picky, picky!!! lol
We were playing around...Grandsons and I...things got a little silly...
Peach Pie, Peach Cobbler, Bama Peach, Another little Peach of my heart (music fans) , Dreamsicle Peach, Peach, Love and Happiness, AprisPeach, Easy Peachy, Peach Delight, Peach Ice Cream, Just Peachy, Just Peachy, Peach Keeper, Peck O'Peaches
I think the boys were ready for dessert....grin
Gordon, how is your Mom doing?
Orange crush, orange sherbet, orange frosty, Sunset orange...
Well thanks Kay... I'm back down herre with Mom... going to spring her from the rehab facility on Monday and bring her back home... between her grandson and his girlfriend living in her house.. and a elder health care professional who might move in also... and a few shorter time folks to help with coverage she'll do better here than in her bed at the rehab place... there's more of an incentive to get up and do something ... with her cats and dogs or flowers doing something she might wish to move about to see..
want to get back to see my flowers myself.. and eat the black raspberries and strawberries, and red raspberries ..warm from the sun....and just now ripening.. I found out how to tell a black raspberry from a black berry... when you pick the black rasppberry... it has a hole in the top where the stem attaches.. like the red rasppeberry.. and a black berry... has a complete berry across the top in the dome looking end... no stem hole...
last week after reading this post I went lookig for a couple of seed pods I had.. and couldn't find them.. I should have had them enclosed in a nylon bag or something to hold them if it dropped.. and wouldn't have been lost to some garden helper sweeing it up off the roof.. or other animal.. the plants so grown out now... maybe I just missed it in there...
OH... I brought back a couple of mothers bengals ... Cotton ..a breeding mother snow leopard bengal... and the young silver bengal kitten...Silver. Mothers cattery days are over I'm afraid.. and her piles of Coccers from the kennels are now in homes...except for onle last light brown breeding female... that's open for adoption
Hi all, sorry I've been away for a spell... I'm back. Gordon hi! I'm glad to hear you're back home with your mother and that things are working out better for her care. Well wishes being sent your way. The Bengal cats must have been a source of joy and prize for mother, hope she's able to enjoy things that's meaningful to her. For those that are up for adoption; hoping they'll find good home.
Glad to see you enjoy the summer fruits. Hope you have a good stay before you return to the city.
No brug's seedpod this year for me. I'm keeping some favorite brugs one of which is the double white one you've given me in the past. I'll see about pampering them into blooming this year. Once I do, I'll share pics. with everyone.
Waving hi to all my friends. Oh, Jeane and Linda Kay, thanks for the suggestion on the orange seedling's name. I'm still un-decided .... still.... lol
Thanks for the update, so glad to hear Mom will be going home! Love those cats, they are beautiful!
Hi all, I'm kinda new to brugs but just love them. If anyone has any cuttings in the fall I would love to have a few. I only have a light pink one. Do you cut them back in fall or just leave them alone? I live in Texas zone 8. LOL alda
I'd just leave them..as I do the ones at mothers in AL...it helps mark where they will sprout out from their roots come spring...
Back home now..I missed the summer in my garden with three trips south..I wonder where the seed pods went that I had on the Brugs when I put them out in the spring
Hi Alda,i am Cody. The one that started the thread.I was new at them during the time too. When i was so proud of my pods. The brugs that i started out with didn't make it.I have not gotten back into brugs since.Plus i have know where to store them for winter.I never got around for cuttings back then. This nice lady i met on here from down south give me the bigger plants i had.Like the bigger plants on this thread. The other ones i had was from cuttings.I hope to one of these years to get back in to brugs.I very much so miss gardening with them.I hope you can find some cuttings.
Cody
