This spider is hanging out in my cacti, just curious what kind it is, it will be protected, as I don't kill spiders or snakes, even if the are poison, Ed

This appears to be a white-banded fishing spider (Dolomedes albineus; family Pisauridae) - see http://tinyurl.com/pjx5uh for images and detailed information. They are close relatives to wolf spiders, but lack the enlarged frontal median eyes characteristic of wolf spiders. Large specimens are capable of inflicting a painful bite if mishandled, but otherwise are harmless to humans.
