More on Misses Jane and Elizabeth, and an explanation

You KNOW you want goats....

(this one delivered last night, by my hand, after 5 hours of non-productive labor)

Oh Claire! How exciting! I know that was a long haul.. but to get a good baby is extraordinary! What is the darling's name?

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo can i have it can i have it can i have it???

(Only you have to keep it until I have the farm. I'M WORKING ON IT!!!)

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

Er... ahem... I mean, no, I'd better not obtain a goat at this time...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

His name is Wilder. His mother's name is Laura. Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House on the Prairie books. He is little goat on the prairie, so we thought Wilder was a good name.

He is very energetic, very cuddly, and very excited to be moving to Texas in his future. :-)

Yep, he looks like a Texan goat.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Very cute little one.

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

I like that nice little LONE STAR on his forehead.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Yup, Luna had the moon, and he's got the star! How appropriate that you will be getting both of them.... ;-)

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll have to name the farm something very celestial.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Yesterday, Wilder was making his best attempts to jump onto his mother's back. He is extremely energetic and very bouncy. He can now leap upward and launch himself over the back of her neck when she is leaning down to eat or drink. He is quite the acrobat. I expect he will continue in this habit!

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

My beloved Sandy used to lay down in the lot and all the kids would come over and jump and lie on top of her(even the ones that weren't hers!)

Wilder is sooo cute, Cmoxon! Still waiting on mine to be born. Fingers drumming impatiently.....Her bag is getting large but is still soft. Tendons have softened but not ready yet.....

Wow! Now that's an impressive milk bar!

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

I WANT MY GOATS!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Come on up 'n get 'em!

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

LOL!!

Well, wish and ye shall receive....well, almost. It wasn't Zoe(a.k.a. the milk bar!)

Went out in the back lot to herd in the last ewe(she's always last) and lo and behold, there's a lil one with her. I missed the whole thing! Had to go and get my oil changed today! Got a pic but it doesn't do her justice. Hands down, she is the absolute prettiest ewe lamb we've ever had. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow.

Here's another pic of her when the rest of the flock checked her out. The one directly behind her is Beverly( our in-house bottle lamb).
I'm hoping she keeps her nice dark color.

Ok since I've shamelessly HiJacked this thread, (brigidlily, I hope you don't mind) Here's a pic of the newly hatched chicks. I counted at least 6 this afternoon but she got mad at me for looking!

And last but not least the proud papa:

Beautiful lamb Sue! Is she going to go live with Wilder and Luna and Misses Jane and Elizabeth too?

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

She will definetly be staying on! However, I need names, please!!

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

It's my opinion that threads are meant to be hijacked, and you KNOW I don't mind seeing pics of my future farm residents!! ;)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Well, with the white star on the forehead, you could think of names along that line!

Svetlana (means light or star in Russian)
Twinkle(s)
Sparkle(s)
Celeste
Astra (or Astrid)
Danica (Slavic name meaning morning star)
Nova
Polaris (Polly for short)

Sue, RI(Zone 6a)

Lol! Thanks, brigidilly!

Thanks, Cmoxon-I'll start running the names by everyone(it has to be in agreement otherwise the poor thing will have 6 names!)
