I have started this thread so that members can register their interest in a separate forum for Grafting & Budding as suggested by several members. Another approach might be a dedicated thread within Propagation.
It is up to you! No response will mean no change a big response and Admin is prepared to have a look at the possibility.

Is a Separate Grafting Forum Needed?????
I vote for a dedicated thread - this forum moves pretty good, but I think at a good pace with the addition of G&B.
Besides, we would hate to lose you, Brian!
Well there is already a separate forum for seed germination so if you separate grafting out, that pretty much only leaves cuttings.
Perhaps if everyone started grafting threads with GRAFTING: it would be easier to search the forum for just posts pertaining to grafting.
Just a thought. I don't usually post but I do read the threads and haven't had a problem finding needed information so far.

If you do want to start a whole new forum (vs just having some specific threads here about grafting) I think you'll need to put your request in the Dave's Garden forum, that's where new forum requests normally go. You can put a link here though to get people over there to "vote".

It wasn't my suggestion for a separate forum it was other members.
Admin has said that they don't believe there is enough interest to warrant a separate forum. Personally I think that B & G is propagation. The idea was put forward because of the scattering of info in all sorts of places but the reason my info is scattered is because I have replied to a question in that site.
Perhaps a dedicated thread would suffice then any questions could be referred to this forum and the B & G thread.
Keep the suggestions coming and perhaps we will come up with a solution that is acceptable to all or at least most.
Regards Brian
I'd rather have a Grafting and Budding (not Budding and Grafting) easily identified thread if that's possible. A forum addition seems, to me, inappropriate because G&B is a subset of Propagation as are seeds and rooting.Much of the charm and interest of these posts, for me, come from the rambling. Also, I think people may be more interested in "making more plants" than how to do it and the expert responses will then suggest that rooting, seeds or G&B will work for that situation.
I have mentioned several times to Admin that the search engine needs improvement but they seem happy with it. Having said that, a good search engine would allow someone to easily find all posts on, say, grafting OR budding instead of us puzzling out where to look when we have a very specific need.

I have read everything I can find at DG concerning grafting and budding and find it very difficult to go back and find something I have read previously because the information is not in one place. Whether it is in one thread or a new forum doesn't really matter to me as long as it can be consolidated into one place. One reason I originally joined DG was because of the search capability. After joining, the search capability was changed where you could no longer search all the forms and made it much more difficult to find what you are looking for. Because of that, the usefulness of the forums has diminished considerably.
I see a thread called a sticky at the top of some forums which might be another option for g&b. Even if there are only a few people interested, there should be a way to capture all the relevant information in one place. I for one don't enjoy all the rambling about totally unrelated topics when I am trying to find out something specific about a gardening topic. I think chats are great, but I wish they could be carried on someplace else - perhaps a place for side chats along the way, but to keep the forum on the topic. In some of the forums you have to read through a lot of chatter to get to the meat. That is ok for those doing the chatting, but frustrating for someone trying to learn from others experience which is revealed between the chats.
I would like that forum for sure!

Doesn't appear to be enough interest in the dedicated Thread or Forum so I guess those interested will have to continue to chase the required info.
