I don't know how to describe it...

Oroville, WA(Zone 6a)

When I moved here I didn't realize all the work someone else had started. The area where these are is very rocky and my husband has burned the "weeds" every year ( he lived here for 12 years before I met him 6 years ago) When I realized there were poppies, tulips and other plants in this area, I asked him to stop burning. That's when these popped up. They are about 18 inches tall right now and I don't know if they flower. The leaves if you call them that are long and more matte than glossy. They are slightly grey-green in color.

I would encourage you to post your photo and info to the Plant Identification forum http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/ That forum is open to all members, subscribed or not, and there's lots of very knowledgeable people that hang out there.

Good luck on your ID!

I believe that is a hardy amaryllis which around here is called naked ladies. If it is the foliage will completely disappear then flower stalks will shoot up with pink lily like blooms.
