I found this huge thing in my sink. I'm a Kentucky native and we have Brown Recluse Spiders there and to me, this thing looks exactly like a brown recluse. However, I'm in Vermont, there's no way a Brown Recluse would like this area. There is four feet of snow on the ground eight months out of the year, so no way, right? So what kind of spider is this?

Don't worry, this is a wolf spider of some sort...
Brown recluse looks much different =)

Hey Thanks! Can you tell me a little bit about wolf spiders? Are they poisonous?
Wolf spiders, like the vast majority of spiders (the family Uloboridae being an exception) are venomous, but their venom poses no threat to humans. Large wolf spiders are capable of inflicting a painful bite should you pick one up carelessly, but otherwise are harmless to humans.
Can these spiders haunch down and lift up erect on two legs?
All spiders are venomous to some extent =)
Not sure about the getting up on two legs though.
I've seen them get up on four when they are trying to climb up things though.
