From Australia we have watched the unfolding tragedy in USA with disbelief, feelings of sickness and horror and the most profound sympathy. Wednesday I think our nation stopped, even those at work, could not concentrate, there was no local news, just coverage of the terrorist attack. We will have a day of prayers and mourning as many other countries will. I have read your posts and yes you are right, this was not just "done" to America, but to all the free world for there are many international plane passengers, NY workers and tourists caught up. All countries are suffering their own losses as well as sharing yours.
Now the ripples begin to spread in ugly ways. Australia is a multi-national country as is the USA . But now religious hatred builds, moslem citizens and their mosques are subject to hostility. I find this so sad - there should be room for all people and religions to exist peacefully in the "new worlds".
This will be the terrorist's joy - to see us tear our countries apart even more by ourselves attacking innocent fellow-citizens merely because the perpetrators MAY have arabic/islamic links.
Calm,courage , tolerance&understanding are what we need to re-build the dreams for peace in this century. Those who pray, pray for sanity to avoid mindless retribution. Those who don't, act positively to protect your fellow citizens of whatever background.
Hands & hearts linked right round the world will do it, but let's start in our own backyards.
