Where, oh where did my lily go?

All of the lilies were coming up nicely... where is my other big Silk Road?? There it is!

That is so funny. The first picture is my favorite :-))

Moby, how did this occur? Very interesting.

It took the path of least resistance and came up the old lily stalk. Here is another one that did the same thing but I didn't notice until too late. Oops!

I love it when they do that! It always seems to make the stalk look huge too.

Ya know, for lilies that have stem roots, this phenomenon may seem "cute", but logically speaking it would not be a good thing. The old stems would prevent, or at least hamper stem roots from forming.

Whether this makes any difference in the big picture, I don't know.

Provided the old stem remained in place?

Loved the first pic, funny! Kinda like "where's Waldo?" - for lilies :-) I've had lilies do this and I'm always so worried as I remove the old stalk, trying not to damage the current years growth - did you get yours off of the new stalk ok?

It was the toughest one I've run across. Usually you can open up the split and it pops right out but this one was hard so little chips came off bit by bit.

I've had them like that, ones that needed painstaking removal! Glad you got it off of there so Silk Road can do its thing!! :-)

Moby, That was so cute! This photo amused me.

Looks like it belong in some cell phone commercial!

That's what everyone says! Do you think we watch too much tv?

Reminds me of soldiers or school kids lining up height wise.

Yes of course. But how would it not remain in place? Removing the old stem with a new stem growing through the center and under the soil surface would be a task indeed.

stormyla, Too funny--"More bars in more places" was the first thing that came to my mind also. You could sell them your photo and make some extra cash to buy more lilies. ;-)

LOL, That's AT&T isn't it???? More lilies would be nice!
