I like how Debbie has John Huxable planted with 4th of July...think thats how Dan planted his...got that rose on order :)
First order for 2009
I am trilled got my first box filled with goodies this morning
dahlia red skin
some fluffy astilbe
may night salvia
white feather hosta
wild columbine
candle flower
and monte negro asiatic lily
yes yes yes I get to plant stuff in my front bed that really needs it since I had to take half the plants out since its in the shade and most of the plant needed all day sun
HUH???No clematis??
I also planted John H with 4th of July and it's a great combo. I have another John H planted with climbing Zepherine Drouhin, Claire De Lune with Yellow Typhoon freelander, Cinderella Fairy Tale with Negritianke.
Those sound nice together...thats what I'm gonna put with my 4th of July..I think I need to order another John H.,don't hurt to have 2!!!
Barbara Harrington is one you need more than one of also. She is stunning.
I might order another one to put out front...she gets huge!!
got all my babies before it started to rain so should see some signs of life soon maybe another week or so
Like when it rains after I plant stuff...gives them that extra boost!!!
Picked up my 4th of July rose today, was'nt to happy how it looks :(
It's not the 4th of July rose...took it back and got the right one!!!
Demstratt, you will love 4th of July. It's very vigorous for me. I have 2 of them side-by-side and they produce nice arching canes. I don't protect mine during the winter like I should, but they always pull through. Some years there is much die back, but always robust new growth -- not to mention, it blooms continuously. I need to pair them with a Clematis.
I see we're in the same zone..I'm gonna plant mine with J.H...Debbie,Kathy and Dan have theirs planted like that, looks good!
I just put two new ones in the ground from SilverStar.
Viticella Etoile Violette & Barbara Harrington.
My collection from Debbie has begun!
You'll love both of them..My B.H.is huge..you know you'll want more!^_^...
Last week I received Durandii from Debbie. I've planted it next to a dwarf Alberta Spruce. The rootball is huge, and the plant is already showing signs of growth! I love ordering from Silver Star!
i think.
ssv roots are easily twice the size of any others i have ordered. and 8 times the size of "the little liner places"
after planting a lot of clems this ear, i also appreciate ssv's pruning before shipping which helps it be done right, most folks can't bear to cut off that greenery. they are easier to plant from the rootball and pruned off.
all in all i am happy with all my orders and they are all in the ground as of yesterday!
happy clemming!
