mY gLORIFIED pOTTING sHED - pART 3

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Wednesday.. looks like rain.. best go check the grass clippings first.

They are not dry so will wait until later, hoping the rain will stay away.. .LOL.

Did one load of dirt to the garden gy the GPS.. still need a bunch of wheelbarrow fulls!

Nothing new blooming or growing in the garden that I have found so no pics today.

Still working on that Citrona clump/ Its a tough one needs to dry a little more before I can break into it. And its huge.

Well the Citrona clump gave 12 new divides. I also did another Stella and it to gave a bakers dozen.

Got Dirtygirls71's parcel mailed and have another going out tomorrow.

Checked the columbines we transplanted and they are doing fine.

Mowed the lawn to tidy it up. Still have over a third to mow that is in very long grass yet and too wet form the flooding. The gardens for the veggies are unworkable due to the excessive wet. So my potatoes are stitting in a bag growing shoots and will probably not see the garden.

I was going to wheelbarrow some ammended soil over to a garden bed I was working on, but my arms gave out so will do that tomorrow....maybe.

Least the sun was out for the greater part of the day and well, the rain gauge did say we got a half inch last night.....like we needed more!

Hi blossombuddy! Isn't this rain just awful? We smushed the tiller as best we could through what's to be my new garden, and now I'm turning it up by hand gradually as we get a couple of dry days. Who needs a gym membership when she's fool' enough to try to garden in wet clay!

My bro came down to cut the saplings out of the fence, and my two-year old nephew picked up clods of soil, said ball!, and threw them around. I'm glad someone's enjoying this mess!

Looks like you're keeping yourself busy with potting. Very pretty. Hopefully, in a few months I'll have cut flowers to post in this forum. Just gotta be patient with mother nature, I guess.

Here's one of the giant alliums I planted last fall. Pretty, but they sure don't smell good. They aren't as big as I thought they'd be, but maybe they just need some time to store up energy and they'll be bigger next year? Such pretty flowers, I think.

Thaaat is pretty Indy! Never tried then, but I got chives that seem to like it here.. I bet thouhg those would never get very large here in my lousy sand soil!

Im taking a break today, but need to water.

We hammered fencing yesterday. I am trying now to think of how to purdy it up a bit. Im thinking lattice and daylilies on the botton to hide the rough sawn wood on the used privacy fencing.

I will have to give a friend of mine a holler for her wild days! Not that I want the orange ones, but want somethign that is gonna grow fast and finish that bed ASAP!

Hi Blossom! still taking a break? how is your cold?, hope you feel better soon.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well terri, I am back.. trying to play catchup today after a very long week of travels, aches and pains and trying to get back on our feet. I got over my cold but ended up at the pain clinic for some much needed and over due therapy. I kinda crashed this week and needed a rousing round with the chiropractor. Thne the hub had an injury so we are dealing with that. Whaaat a week. SO ok, while I m sitting here straightaway from the dentist on top of that waiting for the numbness of that to were off after havign a tooth extracted..., I thought it would be nice to just sit in the office today and get my new annuals posted here that I shot earlier this week and that I am behind in posting.

SoOooo ok, here they are! The pansies, one on one!

WOW, in the last 48 hours we had 4.5 inches of rain.. the only thing that did not get wet was the plants in the GPS.. SO I best water today.

Not much else going on here so the hub and I are going flower pic-ing!

You can catch our pics from today in the MAY 2009 in the garden

Well, today we got tomatoes planted and I transplanted some peppers to large pots.

Moved the pepper pots over to the little veggie patch. Put tree cages on the tomatoes hoping to keep the bunnies out. I just hope they do not decide to nibble the pepper pots.

I moved a bunch of green leaved hostas to our little sitting garden and also some varigatied hostas there too.

Mounted our watergirl siloutte, took a bunch of snapdragon pots, marigiold pots, the pansys, dianthus, a few hanging baskets and the window boxes over. Mowed the area around the sitting area and arranged the furniture and pots. I also took some daylilies over. Those are going in another project nearby.

Found some volunteer cherry tomatoes growing in the little tomato plot from last year so I potted them up to hold until we have the bigger garden worked.. It has just been to wet to plant the veggie patch. Looks like I will have nearly 100 of those little cherry tomatoes. So we are thinking to get them in the big garden as soon as it is workable and donate the maters to the food pantry! Especially since we have yet to get the taters in. I doubt anymore at this late of a planting we will get any potatoes, but if perchance we can get the garden worked this week yet, there might be a slim chance and so may as well still try.

Our sunflowers look like they are startig to pop.

Guess I will have to try to take more pics of what we did today.

Well, yesterday we dug margarites, shasta daisy, an iris and some mums. All had to be moved.

Today I am hoping to move a couple daylilys, put the tarp on the hoophouse and cut some hay.

Looks like we have a small repreive from any rain.... but that is totally debatable with the way we have been getting pop ups.

Plus getting such a late start this afternoon...

Grrrr. pixels....daaang it if I wanted a tile....this is really frustrating...

well this is the sedum we brought up from the hoophouse. Been in these pots for years and they were hiding out in the mess there.

Its dragonsblood sedum, but ya would never know by that lousy pic....ugh.

Looks like a chance of rain, but I am going to water anyway. If it rains it will be later this afternnon and everything in containers are dry already

The sunflowers I potted are growing pretty good as are the ones in the big plot.

Still need to dig the siberian iris, a couple citrina daylilys, the honeysuckle vine and a few snowbal bush starters.

Did not get the melons in yet. Need to till the garden once more and then get them in.

I seeded some cleomes.

Potted a couple more peppers. Now those are done.

Need to rearrange our sitting area. We brought the wooden box over and I dont like where it is so have to move the potted hostas and marigolds then redo the plan. ANd fix the box...it got a little mangled in the move.

Have to bring some dirt over to the new daylily bed too before I can plant that. The lattice offer got taken so I am still looking for lattice there. Owell, can always install that later.

Picked some asperagus and took a hike over to the iris bed.. the purples are in full glory as are someof the yellows. They are doing great this year except for all the graass in the beds.

Struck a couple cuttings this morning too.. a few coleus, the blue hydrangea and some begonias. I am out of potting soil.

Cherry tomatoes on the left.. the new cuttingson the right. Those tomatoes are growing fast!

Well, we got the flower box fixed and the sitting area rearranged again.

Yesterday we did get the potatoes in and I guess it was the day before we did get the watermelons, cantalope and squash in.

Still have to plant the cherry tomatoes to the garden, but they are not ready to go out yet.

I am so far behind on getting my traders caught up and need to update in my lists and so I hope that no body is thinking that I abandoned them if I had not gotten to their trades yet. Between the weather and the injuries and trips to the clinic.. it has been really frustrating. I am just running so late.

Well, I best get going.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well yesterday I moved the four oclocks out of the GPS. Put them in that huge pot with some marigold seed and some dusty millers.

Looks like rain again today.

Showers and a chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.....

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well the other day I got another flat of petunias so I worked them up this morning along with straightening the GPS. Sheesh what a mess.

Had to bring in potting soil, move stuff around and then did some transplants..put the gomphrena and some petunias in three large pots and took them to our sitting area, Made hanging baskets of the rest of the petunia flat.

Got the place ready for odd jobs and doing catchup work.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well. we got 2.5 inches of rain.

Its a new month so I guess I will start part 4 of the GPS. Will post a new thread link today.

Here is another snap dragon. It is white, but seems to have a pinkish cast to it.

I need to finish logging my May 2009 blooms and work on the trade list so I wil be very busy again today.
