Does some one know my name?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

This is one of my lilies that are blooming that I purchased this year. They were in a mix bag of liliums. Any clue what they name might be? They are a rich red with a few black spots. Just curious and thank you for your time!!

Hi Dana, welcome to DG and the lily forum! No idea what your lily might be. If you bought it in a mixed bag, it's likely a mix of unnamed lilies. If you like that one so much that you'd like to get more, I'm sure we can find you something that fits the bill. :)

I have to say lilies are finding away into my heart! The have some beautiful colors!! I am keeping them where they can get morning sun, but are protected from afternoon - so their colors do not fade. Actually, I would be open to any lily that someone has floating around that needs a home! I planted 20 mix and I still have a hole. I understand they will spread, but it is a good size hole. LOL I planted them with a backdrop of glads - I thought that would be a pretty combo. I am not to worried about finding a name - just thought someone might be chance have one just like it.

Lilies are sprouting so Spring isn't the best timeto trade. Hang around here a while ~ we'll have you in trouble in no time at all. ;)

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I figured I would need to wait. Just putting it out there that I have a hole!! LOL I just added some daylilies and one of them "Pardon Me" already has buds started. I am very happy how all my lilies are growing - even my lily pads! ; ) It shall be colorful here!!

Thank you!! ; )

Ah yes, you'll find lots of enablers here. Before long you'll be just like us, and you'll want to know the name of the lilies you just planted. :) Yes, come to the dark side with us! ;) LOL

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Hmmmm......All this talk about the dark side - and I am expecting Nosferatu any day (daylily)- should I be worried???? LOL

Emerald, you will need more daylilies along wong with more lily bulbs. Be sure to pop in over on the Daylily Forum...Heehee

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I will defiantly hit the dayliliy forum! I have hit so many forums lately - I lost count! A bud opens and I snap a pic and run to my computer!! LOL At least I can say I am getting my exercise!! ; )

And with all that running back and forth... pretty soon you'll notice your keyboard will be filthy dirty. But you'll think nothing of it while you sit there eating your sandwich with dirt encrusted fingers. Welcome to DG! LOL

I know - I can no longer blame my hubby for the dirty footprints that make their way through the house or the dirt on the kitchen counter from the trade I just received or the hand print - even elbow prints around the light switches! I just have to look in the mirror!! LOL It is fun though!! I dug my hubby through a large nursery today that covered 10 acres - the bad thing is both of us have about a mile long list of thinks we want. ; ) So, now I need a loan!! LOL

Thank you!! They do look close. Was yours a deep rich red color? Mine was and I know that is hard to see in the photos. It reminded me of the rich red wax candles you can buy at the store. They were in a grab bag, I have a pink one blooming now. I also had yellow and white. Here is a pic of the pink one - my daughters really love it!

Thank you,
Dana

Looks like oriental Stargazer ~ my favorite.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

The pink one reminds me of Stargazer also. I have Stargazer planted so when they bloom I will compare. Here is a pic of the yellow and red lilies together. I really like them and hopefully next year there will be even more!!

Here is the white one that was in the grab bag. It reminds me of a tulip (shape and it does not open fully). I did not get a pic when it first opened - this was about 3 days later.

Thanks,
Dana

Love that yellow and red combination, emerald. I do that color scheme with tulips in hanging baskets for early spring display.

I usually don't advocate buying lilies other than from the growers, but I have to admit I have ended up with some really nice lilies that way. Those economical grab bag mixes can produce nice surprises!

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

So far so good! I am very happy with them. I am not always able to buy from growers, so I get what I can afford from home improvement stores. I added some more lilies, but I need to wait for them to bloom. I started all my flower gardens this year and it is always a nice surprise to go outside and see what decided to bloom today!!

Isn't it fun to see a new lily start to open up? Each day I see one that I had not really paid attention to. What a beautiful surprise! My Anastasias are going crazy. That has got to be my all time best producer of offshoots. Marty

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Marty!!!

I just d-mailed you about irises! ; ) Can you post a pic of your Anastasias? As you know I am getting started so I do not know all my flowers yet! ; )

Dana, you are asking me to extend my techie abilities! I will talk to my DH and see if he can help me get the digital pics to my computer and then to this thread. Well, I need to learn how to do it sometime. FYI DonnaMack has some really good pictures in the plant files. Even though they are downward facing, I don't find it a problem, because my tallest one is taller than me and I am 5'8". Also I have them at the top of my "hillet", which is my front garden. Marty

hey dana,
yep, mine was a very rich, deep red too.
good luck
mar
