i have a large Magnolia, species unknown, that was on the property when we bought it in 2005. my question is, without knowing the species, can anyone tell me if it is normal for them to lose a good portion of leaves right before blooming?
it's looking a little unhealthy at this point although it will bloom. the tree is not over 25 yrs. old. this is probably the only thing on the whole property that i have never fertilized. we have been in a drought situation for several years here and i have not watered it either. i started this evening with a good one hour slow soak around the drip line in.
