Can I plant lilies in the bed were my blueberries are? This section is fertilized twice yearly with Holly Tone for the blueberries, which have been there for many years and are thriving. So conditions are right for them. I do not spray this bed with any insecticides, I just pick and eat my blueberries when ripe. I do have some serviceberries in there otherwise, thats it. I have no idea if lilies could take the acid soil conditions. Thanks!
Lilies in acid soil?
Especially the orientals, orientpets, and martagons should grow nicely. But I think in general, most any lily will do fine.
You may have problems with some western North American species or those heavy in their ancestry, but they are not common at all. And Lilium amabile and Lilium candidum or those with their ancestry would be problematic.
Ok, I don't know what the last you mentioned even are. I am thinking of Asiatics and some Orientals. I want to stick to the 3-4 foot range so lots of OT hybrids and Orienpets might be too tall but I guess they could always go towards the back.
I used to have a Martagon, very lovely but I lost it afew years ago.
If you don't know what they are, than you don't need to worry about them.
As I said, orientals should be just fine too, and I am guessing asiatics should do well also.
