This poor thing has been on my screen for 3 days running... not left yet... dying? Is about 2" long, which is large for a moth around here (southern California)
CLOSED: large moth
It's a Tobacco Hornworm moth or Carolina Sphinx moth, Manduca sexta (for the six spots on its abdomen). I don't know, but most adult moths don't live very long.
thanks again!
