Hard to see the scale of this spider against the background, but it's on the top of my grill. Taken with a macro-lense in SE Massachusetts today.
What are the green things under it's eyes?
Thanx!
CLOSED: 1 CM Wide Spider
This is a jumping spider (family Salticidae) in the genus Phidippus; quite possibly Phidippus audax, a common species known as the ‘bold jumper.’ The green objects below its eyes are its chelicerae, the bases of its fangs. See http://tinyurl.com/dxkmyj for detailed information on this fascinating spider.
