Asiatic Jacqueline Lilies

Just finished the planting my 25 bulbs of JACQUELINE Asiatics I bought from VB Wholesale. I was pleased as 5 of the bulbs had 2 noses. These were from my first order from VB this spring. I realised after that order came that I did not have enough to do what I want so when I made my second order from VB this spring, I added 15 more. Still waiting for that order and its not even shipped yet. They are nice sized bulbs but I wish the rest would get here so I can finish up.

Last year they shipped my order late April too but this year my first order came early April.

Someone here said if I saw the B&D lilies next to the VB Wholesale lilies I would be shocked at how much bigger the D&B bulbs are. Not true. See my B&D thread because those bulbs came today and I will post my update there.

Anyway, I am getting off track. I figgured JACQUELINE looked like a nice looking not too tall lily to add to my daylily garden. I liked the pattern in the flower in the picture I saw. As its an Asiatic, I figgured it should be an easy one.

Asiatic lilies tend to be smaller in size, trumpet bulbs tend to be the largest, so even a smaller trumpet is quite large. OTs tend to be on the larger size, but if you ordered B&D's smaller economy package (any of them actually, not just OTs), they will definitely be smaller than what there usual normal sizes that they send out are. B&D in my experience sends out very generously sized bulbs.

Sounds like you had a nice day of planting today ;)

I ordered the regular D&B bulbs, not ecomony size. But I was not complaining about the D&B bulbs, they are very nice.

Yes, I did get my lily bulbs planted today. I just think about how nice its going to look here in the summer when all my lily bulbs bloom :-))

Planting is fun but the end result is the best reward :-) Like Tracey I am surprised the B&D bulbs would be smaller, but maybe it had to do with the poor harvest the Pacific NW growers had this year whereas most of VB's bulbs come from Holland. I have gotten nothing but gigantic bulbs from B&D in the past.

2 out of the twelve were my idea of gigantic. But I was not complaining. I was just compairing the VB Wholesale JACQUELINE bulbs with the size of the B&D bulbs. Most of them were about the same size.

I had ordered the second batch of Jacqueline Lilies and I forget exactly when they arrived but I had planted everything else I got with them (the trumpet lilies and dwarf orientals) long before this long rain gardening delay. So they have been sitting in the box on my porch. Sure was glad to get them planted today. It was the first thing on the adjenda.

I figgure that the row of Jacqueline lilies will look great as a planting in between a row of daylilies planted in my front yard. This row is the second row of daylilies in that particular grouping. The first row of daylilies, I planted my dwarf Oriental mixture in between the daylilies in the row.

Now I am going out to move some sedum backaways so I can plant CENTERFOLD lilies, which I got on Monday from my third and last VB Wholesale order for the year.

So, are you done planting for the year? If so, want to come to Iowa and plant stuff for me? :) LOL

Ha, ha done! You have got to be kidding :-)). Yesterday and the day before (just after finishing planting my tomatoes) I was planting daylilies and some Siberian Iris. Just when I had almost all the daylilies planted another big box got here in the mail. And I know another big order of daylilies its also in the mail. Then I have the order of lilies from Brent and Beckys that I got yesterday and only opened and looked in the box.

Then I have more annuals to plant. Then I have to enlarge garden beds so I can plant the Bearded Iris I ordered that ships in July. I know I left things out. When I write it out like this, I wonder if I will ever get it done :-((

Yea, the row of Sedums are moved back. The CENTERFOLD lilies are planted along with 5 Red Tango lilies and 15 TINOS lilies I got in the same (last) order from VB Wholesale. Now I will start on the order from Brent and Beckys.

Ok, but do you still want to come to Iowa and plant my stuff for me?:) LOL

Your making me laugh :-))

That is the point. :) LOL

It finially cleared up and its beautiful out after being very cloudy most of the day. I did some pruning of some shrubs and unpacked the daylily order that I knew was on its way and did get delivered in todays mail.

I barely made a start on planting those Brent and Beckys lilies but I quit for today.

I work at home from my computer and get behind when I spend all day gardening, plus its just so busy every spring. So I will start slogging thru my computer work and spend the rest of the evening working. This time at least its just working sitting on my butt!
