the mystery beatle hanging with my lady's

Just curious what it is. I have never seen one, and I think it's pretty cool.

It is cool! But it's not a beetle, it's a stinkbug, the Two-spotted Stinkbug Perillus bioculatus

interesting, it was in Central Oregon with our basil, and hay. Is it an Herbavore or Carnavore? ie what does it eat?

There's some info on one of those links, but they eat other insects, including potato beetles

Thanks, I appreciate the knowledge. Any chance he or she may try and eat my lady bugs?

I couldn't say, the extent of my knowledge of this critter ended at stinkbug... but I found this on line from Texas Bug Book: The Good The Bad & The Ugly:

Quoting:
"Predator of Colorado potato beetle, bean beetle, corn earworm and moth, asparagus beetle, and cabbage looper. Nymphs will devour Colorado potato beetle eggs. Larger nymphs and larvae eat the pest larvae."
and ,
Quoting:
"These insects are very beneficial."

So don't squish it, I guess...you could check with a local extension office for more info

I don't squash anything except on accident. I am the person who free's bees from window seals, and relocates spiders before friends or family kill them. I just am down to my last 50 or so lady's and would like to keep them around if possible. When I first saw him he was charging across the floor of my garden room towards a group of lady's. I didn't consider till later he may be after them, I just ran to my room, and got the camera. He's been in a cup since after the photo's with several clippings to keep him comfortable(ish), I will release him back into the garden room soon. I was almost hoping for a mate to be near by. Now it especially sounds like it would be great if I could produce some young. Maybe I can stop buying lady bugs ;)

Thanks again, I may not be an expert on the 2 spotted stink bug, but I sure know what it looks like now :)
