Afternoon all,
Sure do hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day...
Was surprised that the family got all but 1 thing done seeing as we have heavy rains all day Saturday...
Jeff arrived about 3pm just in time for turkey dinner...he's my youngest, been planning a 15 day kayak trip up the trent waterway system and he's never been in a kayak..has bought all he needs..here I've a 3 bedroom house, den downstairs and couch upstairs and where does he sleep on this cold/raining night, yep, in tent - checking it out..crazy kids...
Got my gazebo up, set in a little patio area...lordy those cement slabs are heavy when they are 2'x2' , likely they'll have sore backs today..finished the stained glass (glass on glass) window that had a mishap last week, redone and hanging, outdoor furniture washed...wow, they were a busy lot...
Am sure either Fri. or Sat. we had frost..had put some of the house plants I so guarded all winter outside on deck table and ooops forgot them..all but one, the ivy, seems to have been affected by the frost...
Lunch time, must run!
What's Happening in Your neighborhood-visit with friends #17
BOO HOO !!!! My Day Lillies are nothing but a past thought now .. the deer I so religiously fed all winter ATE them !!!
My Hosta may have suffered the same fate ....
Ahhh well ... what can I say ...
The other gardens filled with perennials continue to flourish .. the deer obviously do not like, Delphinium, Phlox, Oriental Poppy or Silver Mound.
The 'itchies' seem to have taken a brief hiatus .. am thinking it may have been the double dose of Benadryl I took last evening before bed time. A friend of mine in Ottawa who has had the same symptoms, was told it was a reaction to UV rays . WHO really knows ?????????????
Tenting sleep !!! UGgggggggggggggg .. Betty .. hopefully your son woke up DRY and able to put on clothing .. to me .. that was the BAR !!! We camped in tents .. but .. sometimes you could NOT get your jeans on in the morning as it had been so humid in the tent !!!! OH.. to be young again and think THAT was an adventure :-)
Actually .. it was an adventure .. and I loved it .. THEN !!!! Now .. I want, at bare minimum a queen sized bed .. and fully functional bathroom (or two) ... LoL .. guess I have matured !!!!!
Off to get dinner out
~M~
they will be back next year if mr. deer didnt pull them right out of the ground
"M" it very well could be the ray..as I mentioned before, the burning itching that shows itself as soon as I'm outside is much the same..only certain times of the year..I was told by a specialist, it's a ray that is closest to the earth at those times...yep, who knows...
Ahhhh, poor lillies...you'd think they'd be appreciative of your feeding them all winter to leave them alone...NOT...
It's sunny today but wind is up so feels cold...suppose to rain on Thursday .. should go check 5 day forcast....
Shouldn't have done that..rain for Sat..overcast Sunday...
It is raining, it is cold, they are suggesting it will S!!!!!!!!!!! and the temps are probably going to be below freezing the next couple of nights!
I went out this morning to pick up my clematis order at Rundlewood Gardens ( one of Calgary's best kept secrets) then stopped at Cdn Tire for begonias and Impatiens. I planted most of my containers a couple days ago but left them all out in the raised bed in the veggie garden and put wire hoops over them so I can sling sheets over quickly. Most of the rest of the plants ( annuals and perennials) are out in my little plastic covered green house and should be OK but I might sling a sheet over them too as the zips are tearing loose. And this mornings purchases are all in the shed!
I have a table in the back porch but took everything out yesterday and dont want to bring them back in, especially in the rain! If the rain stops I will bring the most sensitive plants inside.
I sure do hope yer right Mona .. so far just the tops have been bitten off.
Am going to the local Co Op farmers typa store tomorrow to look at having an electric fence installed .. well .. me thinks DH will have to string it himself .. Lorna and I will help .. but .. it is becoming quite evident that his quarter acre veg garden NEEDS proper protection .. remember I bought that 'DEER SCRAM' stuff last year? Granules that I sprinkled around the garden GUARANTEED to keep the deer at bay .. well .. it should be called 'Deer Scam' .. I really do NOT think the stuff worked .. but .. I will try it out earlier in the season ..
It was a lovely day here to start off .. our 37th anniversary (I married at the tender age of TWO) LoL .. however .. as the day wore on .. the clouds ganged up and .. POOF .. spits and spats of rain .. and it will continue for the next 24 hours. Sure hope it doesn't SN** on ya Carol !
Have a loaf of Caraway bread baking .. haven't ever made one as of yet .. smells good though ^_^
Took Lilly on a HUGE walk by the lake shore today .. with the wind coming off Lake Superior it was a titch cool !!!
Betty .. I am still itchy .. altho .. the symptoms appear to be settling down a bit .. fingers crossed .. am getting kinda fed up with taking the cholrophyll .. but .. if that's what is helping .. BONUS !!!
Best get dinner on the go
Take care
~M~
"M" sure glad I didn't invest in the deer repellant...
Heard some info with regards to ThunderBay not getting some or all of the funding to start the building of streetcars???? did I misunderstand....
