ID'ing of JMG

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

I just got quite a few different JMG's in a trade. I know the ones that i asked for, but she sent me a bunch of others. I've been searching google and davesgarden but havne't found them. Is there a site w/ pictures to identify them?
thanks

MJ - If you got the seeds from me, you can check out the photos in my garden blog from previous season's grow-outs: http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/m/beckygardener/

Becky,
These came from another DG'er. She was very generous and bunch of extra's. I was hoping to locate them in plantfilesbut so far only a few.
I did fine the rest Thanks to your diary and google. I guess they just aren't in the plantfiles.

How much Sun can I get away with with these guys?

They do need sunlight. I would say either morning or afternoon sun. Preferably afternoon sun, so that the blooms don't wilt so fast. :-)

Ok...I can do that, That's my problem for the most part is that I don't have that much shady area, or what I do is spoken for already!! These are so cool tho I want try them.

Mine are in full sun all day, but the blooms do wilt pretty quickly in the Florida heat before 10 am. I wished they would last all day! :-)

maybe if you list the ones you have others might have the pics

I wonder if starting an ID thread would be a reasonable idea? That way folks could look through the ID thread(s) first and if they don't see their plant, then they could also post a question of ID?

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Technically ID threads are supposed to be placed in the Plant and Tree Identification forum and the Staff has moved ID threads to that forum...

I think a cultivar ID thread devoted to all cultivars would eventually wind up being so overloaded that it would become a jumbled mess and that it would not be usable as a 'quick fix' or much else......

I would like to 2nd the suggestion by Marie-imzadi that mjsponies simply post the list of what was received and we will see if we can make some sense out of the names on the list...

TTY,...

sorry I've been swamped and sick,
I found pictures of most, but really wanted to get some info on each as far as growing likes/dislikes, etc, especially here in Central Florida
advise is wellcome !

Jmg's
Hamciginga
Wine & Roses
Lavender Mist
Dracula
Shiro murasaki x shibori kongo
Blue jishi x Ten Ten
Asago Willow

Should I start these where I want them to grow ?
I have some others that I got from Beckygardner and they are growing in 5 gallon pots w/ bamboo trellis.
So far they seem to be handling the sun and heat pretty well, especially after I put pine bark down around the base of the plants. I started them then transplanted to the big pots then ( i can't remember where) I read they might not bloom now cause they don't like being transplanted ???? They sure are growing tho!!

edited to clean up run on lines...apparently my brain is still fuzzy with this cold.

mj - If your vines in big pots are growing, then they will also bloom. To get mine to bloom, I use Bloom Booster by MiracleGro when I water them every 2-3 weeks. That will help jump start the blooms! :-) Glad to hear that they are doing well. Most ipomoea nils like warm/hot temps and need watering daily if the temps are high, especially any vines in pots (as they do tend to dry out faster). But you also don't want to overwater them. Sounds like you are doing it right and just need a little bloom fertilizer to get flowers on those vines.

You can plant the seeds in the ground or in starter pots. I do both. Though the soil here is clay and sand, so I usually plant seeds in pots and then put the those pots in the ground so that the vines will continue to thrive. I am sure others here will have advice for you too! :-)
