Lilies in pots and freezing temps

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I have started a bunch of lilies in pots, I just put them outside to start hardening them off and checked the weather again and they are calling for 32 degrees. I live outside the city so it will get colder. Some of the lilies are in large pots and some are in small. Some of the tops are 3 to 6 inches tall. I have them surronded by bags of mulch and will cover them with a blanket......will they be ok? I know the ones planted in the yard are doing fine, but have never tried this in pots.
Thank you for your help.

sounds as if you have them covered aok I don't think it will hurt them .
I have left lilies in pots all winter & they came right back up in the spring .

My 2 cents on this :)

thank you susie. I usually pot plants and leave them inside until later, but I got carried away and I just don't have any more room and being some what crazy I have purchased more that need to be potted. Ground is to wet to plant...

Would send pics of the garden room, but it is such a mess. Maybe this evening after everyone has gone home.
Hope you all have a great Easter....

Looks like your lilies are well protected and they're close to the house which will provide some additional warmth. Your babies should be just fine.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I have covered the lilies with mattress covers so hopefully that will protect them and keep the frost off.
Cold and rainy here.
Hope they will all be fine.

With a mattress cover they should be fine. :)

I have dahlias but I haven't started them yet. Last year they got too tall and leggy.I love the large flowers. I figured out never to throw any of them away even if they look dried up. Last year I threw dried up roots on top of some soil because I thought it was too dried up to grow and you guessed it, grew like a crazy. Love them along with just about any other plant....LOL

Some of lilies will be sold at a garden sale and I will donate those, some will be planted, and some will go to the Midwest RU. Already had some lilies and love them. They bloom at a great time and just love them.
