This little fellow was photographed on the garage door this morning. He is maybe 2" across.
Just curious "who" he is. Very pretty.

CLOSED: Small green moth
I think it's in the genus Dichorda, maybe Dichorda iridaria - there are some similar ones, but I don't know if they're in the east or not.

I have seen them mainly in boreal forests in Northern Minnesota - obvious different species - but still looks lovely!
There's a whole subfamily of these emerald moths. Yours might be this Nemoria bistriaria, the Red-fringed Emerald. There's a very similar moth in the same genus, but the dots on the wings aren't black like your moth's. It's not in BugFiles yet.
