Recently, been shopping around for avs. Some had a few I wanted, but not all I wanted. This site ended up having every one I wanted(thanks to some of your and your pictures and suggestions! :0), and at the best prices I've seen so far.

You all probably already know about this site, but

http://www.blossoms-birds-butterflies.com/

Here is what I got and it all ended up being less than fifty, with shipping. Does that sound good to you?

Kermit 1 plant $4.50 USD
Bishop 1 plant $5.00 USD
Aca's Megan 1 plant $4.50 USD
Blueberry Lace 1 plant $4.50 USD
Harmony's frilly dealy 1 plant $4.50 USD
Mint Condition 1 plant $4.00 USD
Silverglade oysters leaves 2 $2.00 USD
Bewitching blue leaves 2 $2.00 USD
Green Lace Sport leaves 2 $2.00 USD
Leprechaun's daydreams leaves 2 $2.00 USD
WRANGLER'S GREEN PASTURE leaves 2 $2.00 USD

this is bishop

That seems like a great shopping experience! I think, too, that she sends an "extra" plant for every 3 purchased (depending on box size), if I remember what her site states . . .

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

oh, wow...it just keeps getting better! ;0)

As for the leaves, I thought I was just buying one leaf, but in the invoice, it had two for that price!

I'm really pleased with Karin and, the shipping was only 10.75 for the whole bunch.

I would have paid a lot more other places, and on ebay I'd have only been able to get two plants, total, lol...

this is bewitching blue

Seedpicker: Thanks for the link and your experience with that company! I've seen that website on occasion when googling but don't know anything about it.

I checked Garden Watchdog: http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/ but don't find a listing for them. I hope you will consider adding that company to GW and posting comments about your experience!

(Zone 1)

Forgot to add my comments about what you got! I LOVE that one called Bishop! Wow, the ruffly bloom is really nice and I love the color! Bewitching Blue is another great AV ... I'm really liking the ruffly flowers! Five plants and all those leaves for under $50 sounds like a real deal to me ... I'm going to browse her site! ^_^

Look forward to seeing more of your pic's!

I usually don't leave a rating until I actually open and unpack the box, but from the way it has gone so far, she'll get 5 stars from me!
:0)

(Zone 1)

Oh, I'm confused, I thought the photo's you were posting were the plants you had received?

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

ordered, and they are on their way...I haven't actually received them, yet.

I'm just excited because I got the invoice, and I thought it was going to be WAY more than that, and also got extra leaves I didn't know I was getting.

I love all the ones that are coming. I am excited.

Can you tell I like the ruffled double ones?, lol...

Those are such beauties!! And sooo different!! Can't wait to see you plants and babies that you grow!!

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm excited because I think they are all beauties, and also because I just bought some of these:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/970841/

I got some old~tin~ceiling~style shelves, and am going to display my tea set
on the shelves with these beauties.

I can't wait to get it all assembled, and take pics to share with all of you

Very pretty Seedpicker! I know she has a very good reputation on Ebay, but I haven't ordered from her yet.

(Zone 1)

Sounds like a really nice set-up - the shelves with the tin type ceiling tiles! Your AV's are going to look really great in those pretty tea cups on the shelves! Can't wait to see pictures!

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

this isn't my picture(mine are still in the car, lol), but something like this

this picture is member rosemary1's picture:

I bought two that are a little narrower and brown from Hobby Lobby, and I'm going to paint cream over them and wipe off, to get this look.

But in the garage I have two much larger tiles that look almost identical to the one in this picture.

I just need to get to the lumberyard and get out the paint before those avs arrive, so everything is ready!

I have two tea sets, so going to display in two different rooms with the two different shelves(well actually four, but two styles/sizes)...

Very cool!

How large are the plants? There are no pictures. I have seen the site, but I couldn't tell what the plants look like.

Your flowers are so pretty!

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Sally-
I'll let you know. I'll take a picture when I get them and post it on here.

Did you see your suggestion on that list, lol?

Here is the set of ceiling tile shelves I bought at hobby lobby, sitting on my garage floor.... Just a coat of white wash, and then a rub-off, and they'll be ready

I am very excited for you,^_^ but because I know you are new to mail order, please don't expect everything you receive to be a large beautiful plant.Instead, enjoy the process of watching your babies grow to be the gorgeous plants they will become! Every grower sends different sizes.I am looking forward to seeing your plants!!

What was my suggestion? I like to get nice big plants in the mail. I have had a few wimpy ones that didn't make it. That is why I asked. I look forward to seeing what you get.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Sally-you suggested wrangler's green pasture :0)

I appreciate your comments. As for the size, I guess I'm new enough to not be too picky, yet...I've got nothing else to compare to, lol.

But, when I looked at any of these on ebay, it was ONE leaf, for $9+, and then tack on 10.95 shipping EACH...I just wasn't going to get much that way.

This is a much better deal for me. Plus, my own leaves that I've stuck have grown babies really quickly, so I'm confident the new ones will grow soon enough, too.

Plus, old teacups aren't that big, so small might actually fit better! ,lol...

But, either way, I'll post so you all can see and critique the package :0)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

No matter what size they are it is so thrilling to open a new box of plants!! I would love to see them, but not to critique, just to share in the fun ^_^.

Awwww.....

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh Sally. That is so cute. Is that 'doggie in the basket' one of yours, or just a picture. Forgive me if I've asked before. I think I've seen it. An Easter card maybe?
Anyway, it really is cute. As I've said before, you are so talented!

South, TX

That is my doggie and my little bird. You have seen it here, I have shown it before.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Sally-
What are their names?

I wish I was that good at photoshop, but I'm not :0)

South, TX

Chipper is my little girlie Parrotlet, a tiny, funny bird. Trudy is my little doggie.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

You know chipper is a girl, for sure? does she lay eggs, or did you do a blood test?

An older Indian man taught me the thing with holding a threaded needle over their gender, and the way it swings will tell you.

I tried it over my wrist, my husbands wrist, and then over my doggies. I then tried it on some of my birds in the aviary. It works! And, is much cheaper than a blood test.

The energy of an individual , or animal causes the metal needle to react kinda like magnets do. It is funny to me, but they swing sorta like the male and female symbols.

The female a circle, and the male will swing back and forth in a line.

South, TX

You can tell easily with Parrotlets. Many Parrots need a blood test, but not Parrotlets and Eclectus.

Hey all...long time no see!

Just wanted to 'pipe in' that I've bought lots of stuff from BB&BF above....and have always been very satisfied.

I've mostly bought Cordylines (Ti plants), though I've noted that lately she has a very extensive offering of AV's!

Thanks for reminding me about that site...I haven't bought much lately, will have to check it out again!

Overall I am very pleased. With plants only $4.50, and leaves $1, and shipping only $10, I think it was a fantastic deal. Not to mention she had every single one of the ones I wanted.

Every other place only had a few, but not all of the ones I wanted.

I only have one tiny comment that is not positive...she packed the plants very carefully and not one leaf broken, but the padding around them was itchy FIBERGLASS insulation!!!!!

I had to put gloves on just to unpack it,...even my husband saw it and said "what the..." , lol

Have any of you ever seen, or heard of such a thing?

!00% happy with my order with the exception of the fiberglass, lol...but I have to admit, it worked!
