thanks here are a couple more of my babies a couple were at my mother in laws it is so funny i call her when they leave here and they show up over there, then my sister in law she calls when they get there, we all live withing 6 houses of each other here are the pics
I found another hummingbird nest part 3 - time to fly!
blond...That is too funny, tracking the hummers around the neighborhood!
yes, we all had hummers so we decided to see if they may be the same we timed it out and all it was so funny
but kinda neat.
How funny, Debi! It is so fascinating to be able to take a tiny peek into their lives, isn't it! Cissy, hope you've cooled down. Even though it's much cooler today, for some reason still feels hot pretty out there. I checked on the nest this morning, and mom wasn't on it at the moment. I'm guessing she was off getting a bite to eat. The rest of the week is forecast to be cooler, so if the eggs made it through the last couple of days then hopefully they will be able to hatch successfully.
yes it is cissy, i love when they bring the children to the house and they are busy playing they are so cute, the daddy usually makes it perfectly clear when he is there he sings sorta to let me know. i just enjoy watching them, i have a few wild parrots that showed up, they are so loud they scare the hummers away i wish they could all get along lolhere are the pretty parrots.
Beautiful picture! I'm partial to parrots, but I know those guys can get noisy.
yes i am too, but i love the hummers too. i guess they will all just have to live with each other and if the parrots are here i know the hummers arent.
Wow, those guys are just lovely! There is a flock in a nearby town...I love to watch them! I never seem to have my camera on me when they're around though. Here is an old pic. They've taken up residence in an apartment complex, where they chew on the wiring and cause all sorts of electrical problems. Oops.
we had 7 last year now only 3.
they are so pretty, my neighbors probably think i have totally lost it, when they are here i go outside and say HELLO over and over again hoping they will say it back and when they go somewhere else they say HELLO and catch someone off guard. i would love to see that.
blond that is so cool about the hummer travels between your gardens ^_^
thank you we like to keep them in the family, it is just to funny how they just go from one of us to the next then back again over and over. it may just be a coincedence but the timing is just too right.
Fabulous parrot picture, Blond! How cool is that?? :D
Blond... parrots are georgeous! Question...the tree to the left in the picture, what is it?
I am curious about that same bumpy tree in the left of the parrots feeding at your house picture..???
Oh, how lovely. I thought iw must be some type of cacti of suculant. Very interesting!!
Wow, great picture of that tree! I love it :D
That is a very neat looking tree and the flower is very pretty. Lucky you to have it.
i just planted 6 seeds hoping for more, would like at leat 2 more. i have 3 seeds available if any one would like to try, send me you address, the first ones get them. debi
that's a '"bad mamma jamma" (whatever that is) Bet nobody climbs it!! Very neat tree!!
ok--put out my feeder a week ago and no birdies!! will my sugar water go bad?
Thanks for the extra pics and info on the tree. It is definately not an ordinary tree, I can see why you love it.
Blond that is an AWESOME tree! TOTALLY on my list for when we snowbird. um sunnyg how are the babies today in the heat? Sorry all but I need my babies fix.
PlanoLinda...great question. I did the same thing nearly two weeks ago. No hummers. We had them before with feeders, but not this time :(
let's try not to take it personally sis! they haven't gotten to know us since to know us would be to love us right--or at leasst to love our sugar water!!

You are right Linda!!! ROFL! I did change my sugar water. Talked to Sunnyg and she said it can get moldy. Mine hadn't gotten moldy yet, but I changed it anyway. Still no hummers LOL
Nice picture, Blond!! Great shot :D
That's a beautiful little bird. Great shots!
What a cutie, Blond! :-)
Dahlia, I haven't been out to check on mom all that often in the last few days. The night before last she was all nestled down in her nest, she was off the nest yesterday when I checked, and then my walking buddy Cissy and I saw her this morning flying nearby (hi Cissy :-)). I just checked the nest again, and she's not there. Fingers crossed that the eggs are indeed okay. I might check again in a little bit, to see if she's still around.
Linda, LOL. I have all these hummers here, but only one drinks from the two feeders I put up, and I think he's the only one dining on fuchsia and salvia nectar as well. He is very territorial, and chases off the others. I hope you and Cissy have some hummer sightings soon! Here is the bully:
Okay, I couldn't stand it and went and checked again...and she's back on the nest. Whewwww :-). I'll try and get some pics tomorrow and start a new thread.
nice picture, i hope the eggs are okay cant wait to see more pictures i think it is so neat you found their nest.
well my husband didnt care so i thought i would tell someone that understands, i was out in my garden and the little boy came to eat kept stopping and looking at me no more then 2 ft away and of course no camera. he was so beautiful, i just froze till he was done. i couldnt believe how close he was to me
debi
Wow, Sunny! Nice shot of the bully!! I can't believe that picture! Hey, since my hummer feeder just hangs there with fresh food in it, can I photoshop the bully onto my feeder so it doesn't look so abandoned? ;) Uh, is that the Foxglove plant in front of the feeder? ;D
How neat Debi, I love when they do that...amazing! Cissy, LOL, they'll come...don't worry :-). There is a bunch of new activity in the yard right now, including more hummers at the feeders and one female who is passionate about the fuchsia. I think they will be headed your way next.
I've been bad about posting, but here is a pic from the 21st....this sure looks like baby hummingbird poop to me! When I went to check the nest a little while ago, Mom was just leaving. I am too short to see if there are little babies in the nest, but the fact that there's all that poop and Mom's still around seems like a good thing to me.

i think you got babies or baby how neat i wish i could find mine where they nest, just to watch them, we have 1000plus acres of woods behind us so it could be anywhere. that is okay as long as i see them on occasion, they will bring the kids when they can.
