I will be driving along minding my on business and will pass by a farm. And Bing---OH that is a _____.
To day I saw a ewe and two lames and ----"Oh there are some Jacob sheep" It goes on . Always seeing farm animals that where talked about on this forum.
Oh and on a funny note. Over on the Florida forum there was talk about chickens in the garden. I told them to come over here but warned them that the folks over here where a little strange. Here is what they came back and posted
"OMG! They're having a chicken hairdoo contest over there. I am not kidding.
Wren - that warning needed to be much stronger.
I'm going back over - please pray for me."
It is all y'all fault
LMBO! They cant say they were not warned. There should be a label for this one huh?
You have become very knowledgeable!!! hehehe I have learned a lot here as well Wren. I do not have any livestock but I feel like I do. LOL
Dear Wren the influence of the P&L Forum is universal ^_^ I found myself pointing out the potential roos in the Ag Dome at Stampede this summer to the open-mouthed amazement of my DH ^_^ I also believe that I may be on an RCMP watchlist cuz I keep stopping to scope out poultry inhabited farms in the area. Is there such thing as a chicken/duck stalker? :O
hehehe I hope not. Or we would all be in trouble. Can chickens get restraining orders? hmmm
You would not believe how many goats I saw to day. Need to work on my ability to id goats. LOL
I just know they are soooo cute. I know the nubian and its long ears and the little pygme goats...thats about it! hehehe
There was some Pygmy goats but I do know know the rest. There is a place that I past on the way to the dentist that had goats and sheep. I have not figured out what breeds yet but I keep looking LOL
Sewin I was thinking I would carry a little feed in my trunk to make friends when I stop at a farm for a field stone or two (which I do). Would that be wrong? OMG I probably AM a poultry stalker! Should I turn myself in? Is jailtime involved? Crappola who will care for my beluved dahlias when I'm in prison? I need therapy.
I also saw a very cute young foal today. Now that little one could come home with me.
The sheep where white with brown spots. I have seen some very beautiful roos on some of my day trips. I have always enjoyed looking at the animals but now more so.
I live in ranch country so it's a good thing my passion isn't horses Wren cuz they're everywhere! Actually I totally luv them but they're smarter than me (blush). It's funny isn't it, now we have a completely different perspective/appreciation. Before I was just thinking 'O chickens=eggs'. I am constantly kicking my butt around the block cuz DH wanted to buy an acreage when we were looking but I said no. Yes, dahlianut is not the pointiest pencil in the box!
I think community chicken service is for first time offenders.
I would hate to see them send you off to the BIG COOP! What if you turned states evidence and became a stool pigeon? hehehe
Field stones are a farmers pain. The land around me use to belong to my grandparents. It was just sold to another farmer. He just barried a ton of cobble stones under dirt. Some will use them to build fences. Most just toss them out of the field. ;) Bringing friendly treats is nice.
That's why it's so fabby sewin. The farmers luv it that I want their field stones. Obviously I was destined to do community chicken service.
hehehe It beats digging ditches. Though I think my chickens enjoy that "hard time". LOL You should see some of the holes they dig!!!
And how wonerful is that ZZ! Totally fabby bed! I am SO into field stones!
ZZ ,Love the stone and the Frog!!!!
Cute ZZ!! I love the look of cobble stone as well. We have it all around our shed and in our landscapes as well. That looks great! I love the frog too!
Darn we do not have field stones around here. Just chunks on limestone and it does not have the same effect.
Just get back from the dentist and saw more farm critters.
Double darn I did not win the lotto or powerball so still no farm for me.
I saw some great stones Wren when I was driving around. I think they were in a panther protected area though so not collectible. I just luv the Panther Road Crossing signs. One of my favorite pics from FL. For those who haven't seen them: http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1022218286014587306EgIFjvfCTL
Cool! We have mostly deer crossing and horse crossing signs!!
Better luck next time on the lotto Wren! ;)
Here too sewin with occasional moose and elk signs.
Very few panthers up here but we do have the cow, horse deer and bear crossing signs. Up here.
HI! If I every won the lotto I would probable die of shock!!!!! LOL
That would ruin the win for you wouldnt it? hehehe
I dont live north enough for the Moose or elk. Bummer. I want to see them. They are huge!!!!
I love stones.. When I was gathering them.. I would sit and look at the different colors, lines, etc.. and just get so fascinated with them.. Sometimes, I even wonder where they came from.. Like how long they tumbled down the river to get so smooth.. :)
I also got some river rock for the greenhouse that was so fun to look at.. when it's wet, it's so pretty!
I have a few from a camping trip, but I don't feel right about taking stones from the mountains.. if everyone did... well.. you know... :)
I luv rocks that change colour in the rain! I have some very boring looking grey ones that turn purple when they're wet.
Momma said from the time I was a little girl after I'd be outside playing and she'd go to wash my pants ,she always had to clean out the pockets, because they would be full of stones. And all we have around here is sand stone. But we've bought river rocks at lowes and I'll set and look at each one.DH thinks I've went over the edge some times.
"Need to work on my ability to id goats."
I can help with that....(dairy goats)
Here's the simple version.
Ears down=Nubian
Ears up=Alpine
Ears tiny or missing=LaMancha
Small, fat and usually gray with little up ears=Pygmy.
Smaller like a little dog with little up ears= Nigerian Dwarf
After that it gets more complicated at there are several sub-catagories of Alpines....
Ginger
Thanks, now if I can just remember all that specially when I am driving at 60 miles and hour down the highway. LOL
I think some are Nubian, and some are Pygmy or Dwarf but threw in a group of sheep, a few pigs and speed it is hard to tell. I wonder if I slow way down I will join Dehlia in jail for stalking.
That pic is toooo cool! I love the arm out the window! hehehe
Give the dog a bone. ♥
What is in the picture I can not get it to enlarge. ?????
It's a billy goat standing on a horse.
That's what I thought but the "horse" looked like it had horns also.
It's a unicorn Wren. I always wondered where they lived and now we know ^_^ Thanks everso synda ^_^
O wow that certainly kicks butt out of a zebra which up to know was the equine I wanted to have.
Those are tigers! COOL! There were some siberian tigers whose mama got killed that were weaned by a puppymom! Are those them?
I believe so!
