I found this guy amongst some damaged daylilies. He doens't look like a common housefly, so I didn't know if anyone could tell me who he is and if he may be responsible for the damamge.

Although I cannot provide a definitive identification for this fly, it is extremely unlikely that it would be responsible for any damage to your daylilies. If the damage takes the appearance of ragged holes or 'chewed' leaf margins, slugs might be responsible. See http://tinyurl.com/c2pmeu for general information on pests of daylilies.

I think you could be right. I did find a slug out there yesterday. Thanks...beer out tonight. Its worth a shot.
