Evergreen.. for a shaded spot for the first 10' of it's life

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

what evergreen can withstand living in the darkest paces.. we'd like to plant a tree in the bottom of a basement pit.. 6' X 20'..... 10' below ground level.. it's fairly bright.. [ south side of my building ] and it will get some direct sun once it gets up to 8' or so.. kind of like deep understory growing.. it will be in a large 40" dia. pot..
I'd love to have a Monkey Puzzle Tree..although I'd not likely to secure a large enough one to give it a good start at the sun.. and there are likely ones better for zone 7.. growing in a microclime.. of more warmth.. and higher humidity than might be avaiable at ground leve here..
perhaps a large arborvatie.. is an easy choice.. I coud drop in an 8' item right in.. and be at ground leve to begin with..
Thanks

Not really a good place for a tree . . . when it gets large, its trunk and roots may damage the surrounding structure, and removal will be nearly impossible.

resin..
It's in a pot.. plastic/resin some 40" in dia. ... that should slow the damage from rooots down some..and below the pot.. there's a 3" thick slab of soid blue stone.. it will sit slightly up off of ....that should slow it down some also..
I'm not sure how you're thinking a trunk might damage the building though

Sorry, somehow missed the pot details! Was thinking of in the ground.

Maybe a yew? They're suitably shade tolerant.
