Checking a book I get the name Cyphrabrassolis major. A web search of this name brought up only one entry, in a photo library.
Looking up Day-flying moths, Agaristidae, I couldn't find the genus, it doesn't seem to exist. And none of the images matched the one I'm looking for.
Locally the moth is relatively common, in its habitat. But getting a proper ID is eluding me.

I also find no useful reference to Cyphrabrassolis major, but I think I have identified your moth.
It is not in the Agaristidae, but is in fact in the Geometridae. It looks to me like the Peacock Jewel or 4 O'Clock Moth - Dysphania numana previously known as Dysphania fenestrata and as Heleona fenestrata: http://linus.socs.uts.edu.au/~don/larvae/geom/numana.html

Kennedy
Thanks Kennedy, that would have to be the closest you could get. The images on those links show a more yellow colour of marking on the hind wings, whereas in my photo the markings are orange. This is probably only a difference between the Queensland population and the Northern Territory one.
I'll put it in BugFiles. There's a few other insects I'd like to upload, but IDing them is progressing slowly.
