Mmmm....

Dahlonega, GA

They make pretty good ones in New Jersey . digger

New York, NY(Zone 6b)

Have to figure out how to get you some of those rolls that we spoke about on April 7. Wait until it gets a little warmer and I will talk with a couple of my co-workers who live in Brooklyn. At the job my co worker brings in the delicious rolls and poppyseed and apple streudel from his bakery. I will get the bakery address and get them to you as soon as possible. (Too bad that you are so far away, I would add one of my cheesecakes or apple pies also). Then while you are gardening, you could have a nice treat. Please remind me as my brain is so forgetful.
Ivy.

Dahlonega, GA

Ivy , be sure and publish the add. I'll order too, if they'll ship . Who knows , with as many as there are on dg , the bakery might have to start up a mail order business . digger

How nice. I love the sink too. And what a nice work area. I see bulb booster, what bulbs are you planting?. I can see that you have been busy. As for eating at my house, there may be a cake or two. My co-workers love the sweets that I make over the weekend.

Dahlonega, GA

Do what ? All that work , or is it relaxing for you ? I don't have the energy to keep up the house like I should , and the yard work , and the cooking , and , and , and nuts , I think I'll just go stand on the porch , lean on the rail and look at it ! lol digger

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Well I have to say after almost what 5 months of taking it easy because of my back it is so nice to get out and do things,, I do find that I get tired easy and have to sit down to do alot of the work,, Also it is hell getting back up,,sigh,, but I have decided to get one thing done everyday even if it is just something small. That way I feel like I am getting somewhere and I am not so overwhelmed by everything that needs doing,

I took a ton of pics over the last few weeks and try to get pics of every project I do step by step. I am going to put them all up on photo bucket or some such place, I am going to use the pics to remind me of what I did each day. That way I will not forget. I am a completely visual person,,lol

Kris

PS Clean house?? you mean I am supposed to be cleanning house,, gee, I am in trouble,, Is that why I have lost the living room and office,, I need to clean them??
LOL

Love it ! Your attitude matches mine . hugs , digger

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

perfect attitude in my opinion, slow but steady progress.

New York, NY(Zone 6b)

I agree, slow but steady. When I come home from work all I can do is look at everything and plan what might get done over the weekend. It never works the way I planned it though. Oh well...

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Ohh, I plan about ten things to get done each day,, but am soooo happy when one thing gets done,,lol

Re: housework... I've got a card that says "There is no real need to do housework. After a few years it doesn't get any worse."

I know there are piles in this house that probably haven't been touched for a few years... we just take the dusting attachment on the vacuum and suck the fur balls off periodically, reminding ourselves that we really ought to do something about the pile.

LOL

Great GH! Congrats... and I totally agree with the poco a poco as they say around here...
=0) Jay

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Tooo funny, we have piles like that too!!
well back to my now tooooo small greenhouse, I have to mist everything for the night...

I think of those piles as future archeological treasures...
right up there with the old shoes, etc they find in colonial outhouses.

LOL

Dahlonega, GA

beautiful plants , eg . digger

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

So does this rate as an future archeological treasures...

No I think it is just junk,, and a awful mess of junk too.

That little pug sure dresses it up tho . digger

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Poor pug,, she is 3 legged pug, we adopted her that way,, she is fat, lazy and most of the time mean,, but we love her anyway. I ahve been slowly working on that pile for days now. I had to take pic so that I could be proud of myself when it is gone!!
Kris

Dahlonega, GA

Kris there is a long thread on just the junk that men store up . I'll see if I can find it for you . Loads of fun reading . digger

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Dang Digger,, That is my pile,, not DH's,,,lol now I feel bad.. just kidding

Dahlonega, GA

Don't they call that community property ? digger

Dahlonega, GA

Oh my, that is not a junk pile, that is a resource pile... I can see all sorts of potential projects in it....

I'll have to get a pic of my resource pile... er, piles.
LOL

(Sheryl) Gainesboro, TN(Zone 6b)

Oh man, I hate piles....

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

ME too, and I just cannot seems to get away from them,, they have even followed me to the NEW garden and greenhouse.......

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I have little piles but they drive my husband NUTS. It isn't even wood and stuff, just a few treasures. I brought home an old wood highchair. He couldn't believe I got it out of someone trash and it didn't have a tray, so what good is it? Well I put it in the garden and plopped a big old plant in it. It is darling and I get compliments on it all the time. I found an old drop front desk 2 weeks ago, am deciding if I want to clean it up for in the house or put it in the garden, too.

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Lets see, pile for copper, pile for wood, pile for wrought iron, pile for HD cull pallets,, humm ok, several HD cull pallet piles..lol,, pile for pots, piles for composting, piles of plastic to cover stuff up,,, did I miss anything?? Oh Yeah!! pile for JUNK!!

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

If we put stuff (junk) out at the street and put a free sign on it, almost always it is gone by morning. I picked up perfectly good 2x4s today, short pieces but my daughter wants a raised bed to start filling with grass and stuff for next year. Now all I need is the side pieces. If I can find hay bales in the meantime I'll use those for walls.

( Kris) Smiths, AL(Zone 8a)

Cathy,, I have got lots of scrap wood, I got all of mine from construction sites, if you ask very nicely, (and it helps to have grandkids with you to look excited about getting scrap wood to play with), they usually will give you all you want. I filled up a truck one day with bricks, wood, fancy trim, and sheetrock!! We built my grandaughters palyhouse with all that wood!! I just was asked to keep the kids in the car and only get the wood and stuff from one pile they had going!!
You bet I took them pizza the next day as a thank you!! ( DH is manager for Dominos so pizza did not cost me to very much,, he still made me pay though,,lol)

Dahlonega, GA

HAD to pay ? kris, that's the pits . lol . We did the same thing , got the scrap , and there was a lot of it at this custom made homes subdivision . We built storage sheds when we first moved here .Another place we found great plywood was from an outdoor sign company that pulled up the old signs and just piled the wood up . We sided an outdoor room and used some of it to walk on in the mud and after seventeen years here ,some of that wood is still in place. digger

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

I've got old siding down for 'sidewalks' too, wish I could come up with more! =)

cathy4, I used some moldy, old haybales for a raised bed... critters (field mice?) moved into them, they eat my peas before they can even sprout. Grrr. Straw may be better...
