We were remodeling in the basment and i came across this insect, maybe 2 inches long. it may be some type of spider but i have not been able to locate it.

The image quality and condition of the specimen itself make a definitive identification very difficult. My best guess is that it might be a a funnel web/grass spider (family Agelenidae), such as those in the genus Tegenaria (see http://tinyurl.com/c4g3zs for an example. The leg span of the largest species in this genus can exceed three inches.
is it a cast off skin? or did you killed it?
Can you mark it closed if no one else can id it?
