I received my 3 bags from Horticulture Guy today. I really like them, although I could actually use one a tiny bit smaller as well. The larger one is perfect for climbing roses and mandevillas. I actually had fun going around to my clems and pampering them. (If I had 2 or 300, it might not have been fun in this very hot sun.) Is HG going to re-stock?
Gardener's Lever Loops
yes, he e mailed he would be back in stock this week. if blissful gets a thousand for 33$, can you order from there and split with someone local?
i will order the 000 for that price if she recieves hers and it is true and the same level loop.
I don't know of anyone else locally who gardens. You people are my gardening friends. But if any of you want to split 1000, assuming they are of the same quality, etc, I would be happy to order them and split the cost and shipping. I would be happy to pay postage to mail 500 to someone. I used a whole pack today. And most of my clems are still very young. I'm using most of the larger ones on my climbing roses. I have new scratches to prove it.
I just HAVE to share this with you. The other evening I came in at dark from a long day of chopping, planting, crawling in the dirt when necessary and I was covered from head to toe with dirt, even some blood from scratches, my hair was wet with sweat and I smelled like "Off." My DH was sitting at the table eating leftovers, looked at me and said, "I never knew gardening was a contact sport." I must have been delirious from the heat because all I could do was sit down on the floor and laugh. He thought the dirt on my forearms was bruises. I said I would assume that whatever doesn't wash off in the shower was bruises. Do you think I might need a trip to the beach? If I were an artist, I would draw a cartoon depicting this episode.

veerrry funny. love it. yes a good cartoon. i can sooo relate. an i am going thru lever loops like water too. life's little pleasures. goo design is good design. function rules.
i usually have to take off clothes outside, and i measure a day by "gloves" .ie a 2 glove day , 3 glove day, a 4 glove day etc. as i am a bit compulsive re changing gloves as they get filthy. so wet right now, but great planting weather and the clems love it.
in clems we trust....
beach rinses sound divine.
Sharkey, what is your secret for lasting through the heat? Did you ever try one of those bandanas that you dip in cold water and place around your neck? I did last year. I still couldn't last outside for 20 minutes. But this year, I'm going to HAVE to. I have so much catching up to do in the garden.
I have no idea what the weather is like in NJ, but we're having July weather here already. I have a patio table with a 13 ft. umbrella on the deck. About every 20 minutes, I take a break under the umbrella with iced tea (I know I should drink water.) It's my love of flowers that keeps me going--that and sheer determination to get the job done. I've already been rewarded by my hummingbirds returning. They always go to my black and blue salvia first. I always said I wouldn't be a bird watcher when I retired, but they are SO beautiful!!
And, look at me--I've thrown this thread off topic, haven't I??
Hey, most threads go off topic eventually. I don't have an umbrella but I have lots of shade trees. OK. I'll take frequent breaks with iced tea. Water makes me nauseous.
Hey, most threads go off topic eventually.
So true, Robin. Threads should be like conversations... mainly on topic, yes... but if a friend gets diverted mid-convo to another thought in person, it's not like you'd tell your friend, "Hey, we can only talk about MY subject!!!" LOL!!! The threads usually wander back to the original topic on their own, just like in real conversations.
It's been Hades hot here too, Sharkey... 90's and sticky in early May is just no fun. However, using those Lever Loops IS fun! I went through quite a few of them yesterday afternoon. They are ridiculously satisfying to use... you can tame the wild vines so quickly with those little things and then stand back when you're done with an area to see a magazine-worthy vine... so neat and manicured. CG, I now see how you ended up going through yours so fast!
you southern gardeners are endurance athletes. it must keep you in great shape, working out in the heat of tx, fla, la, etc. we are nice and sunny when it is not raining, but nothing over 75 really. we will have heat waves this summer however. when it gets really bad i garden at 5 am to 8 or 9 am. hat is essential for a 4 glove day!
we are much looser on this forum than others about staying on topic. i posted a question on a tree forum, and they told me to ask another thread that was more appropriate, or to start one. i can go either way, it's all clem talk.....
Alright, ladies and gents... my Lever Loops purchased directly from Bosmere just arrived. I ordered one of their 50 loop package and one of their 1000 loop package to see what would arrive. The 50 loop package contains the exact same loops as what we got from Horticulture Guy... same sizes in same quantity, same design. They are in a "new, resealable bag" rather than in an identical bag, but the labeling is the same. The 1000 loop package contains the exact same loop in the smaller size you receive in the multi-pack from Horticulture Guy. So, it's true... you can get 1000 of the correct size for clems for $33.00 (or 3.3 cents each) rather than 50 for $4.00 (or 8 cents each). Good deal! Ev =)
great discovery. i will order 1 k today. need them already, i am going thru them soo fast.
Super, bliss! I have at least 10 new clematis on my wish list, (I blame this forum and guru!) so I'll order the 1000 for next season.
Thanks for conducting the experiment for all of us.
i just ordered the 1000 pack.however, it was 56.00 this is 5.6 cents each and the best price from hort guy was 8 cents each , so still a deal.
can't turn down the savings. thanks again for unearthing this better way to buy.....
Hmm...Looks like they fixed their error. The E202 is currently showing at $56 for 1000.
They changed it to $56?!?! Wow, I'm glad they didn't figure out the correct price before they shipped my order! I was only billed for $33, like they stated in the email to me... as well as free shipping. But CG is correct that even at $56, it's still a better price than the multipack from HortGuy and others... unless you need the larger size loops for thick rose stalks. I'm guessing $33 is the wholesale price. I'll have to check in to that.
i do like the larger ones too, for some of the bigger clems, or taking several stems and lever looping them to each other not a structure , so they can support each other. but glad to get these for this price. as my plants grow i have found i can remove some of the initial onesi put on the small plant to direct it , if the plant took the coaxing and fastened itself as it grew.....

I'm also using mine up in a hurry, but I'm using the larger ones as well. Some of my trellises are thicker than others and I also use them for roses. So, I guess it would not be worth it for me to order the pkg of 1000. BG, thanks for sharing this info with us. Let us know if you come across any more good deals.
yes i like the larger ones too. maybe bosmere will end up getting them. i may e mail a request and see their response, also wil e mail the hort guy and see if he can do a deal of bags of 100 or something on the big ones. you never know.....
That's a great idea. Let us know. I'm probably going to have to order again since my clems are growing so fast.
yesterday contacted hort guy by e mail, he responded already with question and he is going to get back to me about packages of just the bigger lever loops. figure these would go well on the rose forum too. i asked about packages of at least 100, or however he wanted to package them up if he could sell these. he usually gets back pretty fast, so stay tuned.
Hey, look at these loops. Appear heavy duty, maybe for stouter stems than clems.
75 for $15.00 + whatever shipping costs. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx?view=2&app=detail¶ms=item^M16255,RecTypeInd^EPIPHANY,navlist^M7459*M14146*M16255*,cp^detail,tmp^related,cpprod^M16645,cm_scid^dtlr&walk=&cmtags=
hey thanks winterrobin. i heard qvc had them some time back, but assumed they were the same size we had been getting. these are giant! i ordered them and will save them for BIG stems. am trying to clip some philiadelphius in to an arch, and i think i can use these and retreive my smaller ones that are not big enough .
thanks for the link.
once you start looping vs tieing, well it is so good.....
CG, when you get the QVC ones in, could you please take a photo of this one compared to the large Lever Loop? I'd like to see a comparison before ordering even more. Also, if you could let us know your opinion of the metal spring that's used in these new ones... I'm curious if you think it would hold up long term in the garden. Thanks! Evey =)
good idea, and i will do so.
well today,my 1000 bag arrived from bosmere. i think they are the biggest ones from the small packages. yipee. here is what 1k loops look like. i feel very piggish and spoiled. i had a small order form logees arrive today too (2 little blue thunbergias, check them out, a divine clem companion grown as a annual here) and had added on 3 little bags of the mixed loops before i did bosmere. so i am not going to run out now.
1000 is a lot.
if i hear back form the hort guy re any other assortments or sizes i will decline. i have the 75 larger ones coming from qvs too, will send pic to show difference when i get them.....lever loop heaven here.
CG, your 1000 was the larger loops? Mine was the smaller loops from the combo bags. I wonder why we would have gotten different sizes...???
I just ordered those from QVC also. Even the larger one from Hort Guy wasn't quite large enough for attaching some large climbing rose stalks to my thick trellis. I'm a little confused as to why BG and CG got different sizes in the 1000 pack. I'm going to need some more small ones as well, but waiting to see if Hort Guy comes up with any new offers.
My pack was definitely the smaller size loops, but the cost to me was $33.00. Perhaps the $56.00 pack is for 1000 larger loops and the $33.00 pack is for 1000 smaller loops?
EDIT: Nope... the Bosmere site clearly is advertising the smaller size in the 1000 pack.

i am confused too. bosmere had called me yesterday early to confirm credit card exp date, i had entered it wrong. i asked about the larger size being available in bigger pack. they said no.
then, an hour or two later my bosmere shipment arrived and mine are the larger size. i am very grateful and glad but as confused as you. i wil not need to order any more however.
they are very nice and amazing they shipped before verifying card exp and charging me.
lever loop mystery. they must just have packs of 1000 set up as one sku and not by size.
that's all i can think of.
those are an even better price at 3 cents each, daylilly dreams
with this latest shipment i have enough last for years (i hope).
i notice i can move them up on the plants as i am training them, as ones placed initially can be moved upward, as the lower placment will have sometimes eatablished and not need the loop. i am wondering how i ever worked without these. so easy and the plants like them better than any from of tieing i used to do.
i even used the british brown plastic tie for a few years, have tried so many types. the loops beat everything ever used.
You now have me convinced that I need Lever Loops. lol
I just opened my last package. I never go outside now without a supply in my pocket, as these clems seem to be growing inches every night. I'm going to have to order more right away. I would order the pkg of 1000, but I can't be sure what size I would get. I really need both sizes, so I'll probably order again from HG.
i wish i knew how i had lucked out and got the larger ones for my bag of 1000. when i asked them if i could get them, they said no. i am glad i am not the only one who has found these to be so helpful with the clems, good to always have them in pocket and a small pair of nippers for sure.
they may have various sizes in the 1000 bags and not even know it. but if they believed you maybe they would pull you the bag with the bigger ones.
the next size down are good too, probably won't be too many vines you would really need the biggger ones for.
welcome to club lever loop julia jayne.
I just went to HG and they are out of stock right now. I e-mailed them to find out when they would have more. The last time I ordered, they failed to respond to my e-mails and wrote me a note saying that their e-mails did not go through. That is strange, as I get e-mails from lots of people every day. One of the reps actually took the time to e-mail me from his personal account, though.
The larger ones I need for the roses mainly. Also, some of my trellises are thick where I have the clems. I probably use an equal number of both sizes. I can't believe I thought 150 would last me this season. But, I also ordered 75 of those from QVC, which are larger, so that might be enough for the roses.
sharkey, hope you find some, hort guy was going to e mail me when he was back in stock and i haven't heard from him, this has been awhile since it was before i ordered the big bag from bosmere. i will keep my eyes open if i am on any garden sites and see them.
I finally just ordered directly from Bosmere today. They did not indicate being out of stock, so I guess I'll have them in about a week. Thank you, CG.
I really wish local stores like Lowes, WM would carry them. I also wish shipping charges were tax deductible. Wouldn't that be nice?
I just ordered from Bosmere yesterday (Sunday) and I just got an e-mail stating they have been shipped. Now, that's good service in my opinion.
yes, they are great. like i said, i received my order the same day they called me to clarify cc exp date which i had entered wrong.
and they have some other items on the site that look interesting when i have sometime to browse.
