Post Office LimitWhat will a stamp cover?

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I found out through mailings that you can mail 5 8.5x11 standard size pieces of paper in an envelope on one stamp. I'm wondering does anyone know how many 4x6" photos you could send in one envelope per stamp????

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I have an old, lovely postal scale---will have to check for you .....

OK! One legal sized envelope--one sheet of paper and 6 4x6 photo prints will go for one stamp. Picture #7 tipped the scale over 1 oz.

Of course--if your paper is heavier--it may only be 5 pictures. I used a sheet of paper from a lined, 8x11 pad.

Thank-you Gita! Good to know. Since I got no reply I just mailed several of my envelopes with stamps assuming worst case they'd be returned insufficient postage or sent to the recipient asking for repayment on the lost postage.

I sent several legal sized envelopes of pics, staggering 2 stacks of pics in the wide envelop so that they weren't bulky but lay flat in there. I did a stack of EIGHT on the left then put in a stack of EIGHT on the right with ONE stamp. I thought it was a long shot but had no clue how much the limit was.

All arrived with no additional charges.

Good to know on the 1 oz. limit. I didn't include any paper but figure yeah that doesn't make up for the qty of pics I used.
