A Sense of Loss

Saint Louis, MO(Zone 5b)

The events of Tuesday have really brought back the painful feelings of loss that I had after Neil's suicide. I can empathize with the pain and suffering that all of those people are going through. Their healing process hasn't even begun yet. I've merely taken a step backward.

I really am trying to incorporate patience and tolerance into my daily life to get me back on the path of healing. Healing after such a tragedy is such a long slow process. You have to feel the pain and the anger in order to move forward. And the painful negative emtions come and go when you least expect them. And when you think that they are gone, they will pop up again.

For myself, every time I feel one of the negative emotions, I really try to focus on a positive emotion. I make a real effort to bring a positive emotion back into my life. Right now, I'm focusing on patience and tolerance, with myself and the people around me. This will help me to move forward again in my healing.

What a sweet post Sharon.
I too have had a friend commit suicide. The questions of 'why?' will never be answered so don't torture yourselves trying to answer them.

We may never know, but we sure can hold each other's hand and help them up and help them walk, not alone, but TOGETHER!

I'll keep you in my prayers. Thanks for sharing. I would say you have taken the right approach by foucsing on positive things and realizing that it takes a lot of time.
