Are there any flowers you DON'T like?

copy WW williea list and add Vinca Vine

I agree with the invasives, though I did not think Nancy meant that. I understood the thread idea as meaning well-behaved, commonly used flowers.

This will probably get me kicked out of the Hosta forum, but the streaked hosta cultivars really don't appeal to me. Ok, not technically a flower, I guess.

SunnyB my knautia doesn't flop. If it did, it would be a goner for sure.

Don't feel bad Noreaster.....I love daylilies but not doubles and I can just here a few peeps gasp over in the DL forum! lol

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

lol, Celeste- I don't like the double daylilies, either. What I like about DL's is the simplicity of the flower's form....that goes out the window with doubles. Gives me a headache just looking at them and trying to figure out what's going on there! Come to think of it, that may be my issue with Cannas, too...just exactly what is that flower shape? I guess I just like things to be simple!

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I LOVE hollyhocks, dislike the doubles, same reason - the simplicity of it is totally gone. Don't have a clue why anyone would even want the things.

How about peonies - single-, semi-double- and double-flowered?

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

I had to look it up, since I don't know anything about peonies. The double ones don't look as outright wrong to me as a double daylily...however, we have one peony that was planted on the side of the house by the previous owner. When it rains, the pretty flowers hit the ground...which to me makes it a bad plant! ;) I'm with Victor on the staking thing. Too much trouble.

Doubles are pretty in peonies--use rings. the singles or semi-doubles hold up better. However my peonies in front of the house come from my childhood home so I hang on to them.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Ok, I will try to remember to put one of those ring supports on my floppy peony this year. The flowers ARE very pretty.

I'll never like double daylilies, though. It looks like one daylily is cannibalizing another one.
