Proud As A Peacock

Richmond, KY(Zone 6b)

As some of you know, I conduct an email course for freelance writing.

One of my students (who lurks here at DG) just got an assignment from the Farmer's Almanac Gardening Companion. She is, as you can imagine, walking on air. And I couldn't be more pleased. This is her second major gardening assignment in just a few months (first came from Birds & Blooms). Shows what you can do with native talent and a little direction.

Trish, they say when you find yourself in a hole, quit digging (you can't dig your way out.) Me, I've never had the presence of mind to heed that advice when I'm IN the hole....so I can certainly relate!!!!!

Brook, let me add my congratulations - that must feel ALMOST as good as when your own child has a major accomplishment! Thanks for sharing it with us.....

You got it right, go-vols. It's been more years than I care to think about since I felt the rush of a by-line. Now I relive it vicariously whenever any of my students sell a story.

Bravo Buddy!! As someone who dabbled in journalism herself, I can appreciate the pride you and your student must be feeling!!

I know this compliment is a bit late, but I just got around to reading this thread.

You're a man of many talents Brook! I'm glad I can call you my friend!
